Good find @Throb – sounds like there was some "story/drama" behind the scenes then!
Yeah, in her blog last month, the lady who co-created Andersen explained how she was offered severance pay from the company she set up.

"With the good, comes the bad and the ugly. I learnt how to run a business and the struggles of keeping faith with a vision when things scale up and investors with different values come on board. I learnt the importance of not giving away all your business powers and the impact that misplaced trust can have. Due to another funding round and a huge dose of naivety on my part, I was classified as a normal employee. I was put on furlough from November 2020 and in May 2021, my services were no longer required. I was offered a severance pay of 4 weeks (which I declined) and that was that."

For how long though?

I contacted AMEX this morning, and they've started a disputed charge and will credit my account back with the appropriate amount.

The question is now, which EVSE should I get instead? I have an Easee One at home (the Andersen was to be installed at my mum's house), which looks good and works well. I really did want the looks of the Andersen, however. Does anybody have any experience of this one?

It is a product of the people behind the Andersen charger before they were ousted by shareholders. The customer service seems second to none, and you can get tethered or untethered. I'd go for untethered, personally, as most of the time it won't be in use. The personalisation available seems even better than the Andersen, and it's MUCH cheaper, starting at £649.

I just worry about getting one from a company that could be bankrupt in six months.
I have written to the Administrators (there is a consumers contact email address on the site) to ask all the questions regarding server side support. I currently have my device set to a limited night schedule; I wouldn't want it locked in to that if they turn the server side off without notice leaving no way to access it and remove the schedules/ locks.
They say they will respond in 48 hrs. I will report back should I hear anything.

Here is the Administrators reply to my question on server side assistance / settings in place getting locked in etc.

As you may know, Nick Holloway and Will Wright were appointed Joint Administrators of the Company on 11 October 2022 and the Company has ceased to trade. We appreciate that customers and suppliers will have a variety of questions, however we will require additional time in order to respond fully.

The Joint Administrators are actively exploring options for a sale of the business and, as a result, the response to your query is dependent on the outcome of the sale process.

Please bear with us and rest assured that we will reply to your email as soon as an update is available. We will also be writing to creditors of the Company, setting out our proposals for dealing with the administration in due course. In the meantime, documents published in relation to the administration can be found at www.ia-insolv.com/case+INTERPATH+MMA06E0443.html.

Can you use the Porsche app instead of the Konnect+ app to schedule charge times? I only bought the unit a month ago and haven’t used it yet as don’t pick up my Taycan until next week. I know the 3 year warranty will have gone out of the window but hope that the hardware works for a while and I can use the Porsche app as an alternative.

No, the apps are completely incompatible with each other and have no interoperability. However, you can – and it may be actually preferred – to use the Porsche App or PCM directly to set Profiles/Timers to schedule charge and treat the Andersen as a dumb EVSE.

I ordered an Andersen A2 and had it fitted in time for when I expected the car to arrive on 10th October last year.

Another Porsche related disappointment. It has worked fine charging our plug in hybrids in the meantime, FWIW but if Porsche dealer hadn’t recommended it I probably would have got a Zappi.

I assumed you had a Andersen from previous posts ….have you got a simpson and if so what is it like ? Pls
No, I have a PMCC but used Andersens to do the 32A supply install and wall mount of my Porsche dock. Had I not got a 'free' PMCC I would likely have selected their EVSE at the time - beautiful styling and engineering.

If I were in the market for an EVSE I'd opt for the Simpson & Partners unit (same people who started Andersens) - beautiful! Only downside is cable storage - tethered (or not) as you have to store the cable separately rather than be wound round and hidden as per the Andersens A2.

I've downloaded the spec and install sheets - looks the business.

It was free because the PMC+ was in short supply / not available and so Porsche shipped a PMCC (22kW) with the car at £0 cost. I got lucky and the situation for all European customers was the same from Oct'20 to Dec'20 where after supply of the PMC+ was restored.

Ok thanks that explains it
To have anything at £0 cost from Porsche is very lucky indeed?

I sold mine (having got it free for the reasons above) back to the dealer on collection day for €1,000!

Later, when I realised it had a PIN lock – I slightly regretted doing it.

This has to be the B&O of EVSE equipment - https://simpson-partners.com/home-ev-charger/ - I wish them well and grateful that I used their services to do my home installation of my PMCC.

I'm having my Simpson EVSE installed tomorrow morning (at my mum's house, not my own where I have an Easee One). The equipment arrived last week, and the packaging and the EVSE itself is absolutely spot on. The craftmanship and quality could not be better, and it feels like a really high-end product. The flap which you open to insert the cable feels extremely solid, and it even has a foam inlay inside for extra padding. I went for the "Plus" model, so it has LED lights for the socket. I can't fault it really. When you realise it costs hundreds of Pounds less than the Andersen, then it's phenomenal value. The photos do not do it justice. Describing it as the B&O of EVSEs is accurate. In your hands it just feels very, very premium.

You have even more choice than the Andersen for personalisation, but I went for black with a copper lid. They also have extremely good customer service, and took personal control over my order, as I was only going to be in the UK for a short period of time and needed it delivered asap. They ensured it was dispatched in time, and kept me up to date.
