Mine was in Halifax for 4 weeks before being released...
Yeah... unfortunately, it is quite often more than 2-3 weeks at port before release.... and no, it doesn't make any sense since it didn't take that much time to load on ship in Germany! Customs and paperwork, I know, I know, but someone could easily hope that in 2020, a week at a specialized port auto facility would be sufficient, considering that logistically speaking we all had an ETA of the ship.
Anyways, you're getting really close to happiness now, that's the good news!

Hey there!

Your order probably went to a V260 slot, which means that no further changes can be made to the build - which is probably why the dealership is saying that they couldn't add it to your order.

Either that, or the Contrast Stitching hasn't been made totally available yet for MY21' builds or is causing a delay. The contrast stitching has to go to another department and they might not yet be prepared to handle MY21' orders.

In either case, I understand you wanting to wait for the order with what you want in it. I have not yet had a Taycan order have contrast stitching, but I have had/seen several 911 orders with it and it is a beautiful option if done right.
The contrast stitching was on my order. I wasn’t trying to add it after the lock down date. It was Porsche that reached out to the dealer when it probably went to the next stage saying it couldn’t be fulfilled. I am hoping the delay won’t be too significant. It may seem like a small thing , but at this point I have my heart set on the contrast. I have always loved Porsches with it.

As always, really appreciate you taking the time to provide your guidance and perspective on this forum. If you do hear of an order with the stitching, I would to know what the build date is.

Here in the UK, my dealer told me last week that Porsche GB have confirmed that adding contrast stitching or coloured seat centres to my spec, would cause a 10 week delay to the build date due to demand and the fact that the car needs to be pulled out of the normal production line to add these particular options. Needless to say, I removed them from my spec, Frustrating as I really wanted them but not prepared to wait and extra 2 months plus!

Maybe there are enough people prepared to wait and in turn speed up our deliveries!

I am one of those willing to wait. Someone will likely get my November build slot. For me, I don’t drive much in the winter anyway. Waiting from January (original date) to March (I hope no later) is not that big a deal. I waited 11 months to get the first build slot and can wait a few more. I did sell my winter car already though - so not driving a lot in winter has turned to no driving at all.

@LukeManning Are you able to confirm if the 14 way seats on the Standard interior are the same as the 14 way seats with Full Leather?

I've found my 14 way seats to be too firm & awkward around my upper back and I'm curious if getting Full Leather and/or Olea and/or without ventilation would have improved their feel.
They are the same. Drove an Olea interior today and it felt the same.

I will say the Olea interior is a little more "supple" than the standard or other full leather interiors. That being said, I don't think this will make a huge difference in the way the seat feels around your upper back.

Have you tried adjusting the head rest out towards your head so that your upper back lifts off the seat some?

@LukeManning any way to connect with Porsche customs folks on the ground at the Davisville port to understand timing for a cars release from customs? Mines been there since Friday with no update (per my dealer)?
Even we don't have direct connection with the ports as the dealership.

We just get a notification from Porsche tracking once the car has been released for transport.

You have to keep in mind the cars have to go through customs when they get into Port. Sometimes it can take a few days, weeks, or even months sometimes (RIP to the 2019 Cayenne E-Hybrids that sat at the port for 3-6 months before being released by customs).

More of a US Customs thing than anything.

Luke, first thank you for all of your time with questions. Mine is related to the Electric Sport Sound, which I did not get and now wish I had purchased. I have seen several posts that it is available now (or later) as a purchase but my understanding is it was the normal motor sound amplified. So does that mean the amplifier was installed as standard even without ordering? If so, very cool and great foresight on Porsche’s part. I want it!
p.S. so sorry if this has been asked and answered already.

Of course! Here to help whenever I can.

I do believe the answer to that question is Yes, they did install the amplifier on all Taycan models regardless if you optioned the Sport Sound or not...

I don't know that for 100% fact, but I would assume it to be the case since you will be able to purchase the Electric Sport Sound as a Function on Demand (FOD) in the Porsche Connect Store.

Hope this helps! I'd add it on for sure, is one of my favorite features in the car.

FYI - got my new build date last night. Moved from November to February with an April delivery. I don’t drive much in the winter anyway but I was looking forward to having the car to play with to get me through the winter. I will have to continue to entertain myself through this forum!! Perhaps more of the issues will be resolved by then as well??

If you want to have some fun, ask your dealership if they'd do a "Bridge Car" for you in the interim. We do this quite often with clients who have a vehicle on order.

Basically we sell you a vehicle with an agreed upon monthly depreciation and mileage amount with a promise to sell the vehicle back to us when your ordered car comes in.

As long as the vehicle returns to us within the same parameters of the agreement, and doesn't have any major damage we purchase the vehicle back from you at the agreed amount and apply the tax savings (if your state/county/etc. does tax credits) towards your order vehicle.

You loose out a bit on some of the taxes sure, but basically you're renting a car for a few months while your order comes in. Dealer gets to sell a car, possibly take your current car on trade, and is pretty much guaranteed to sell you your order car when it comes in!

That sorta thing would kill you in CA, as we get no credit on sales tax for the car being traded in. I can stomach lots of depreciation from flipping cars, but eating 9% sales tax every time hurts.

Yeah it won't work everywhere!!! It's nice here in Texas our sales tax is only 6.25% - not a ton of other fees either.

You also get a full tax credit amount on the difference between your trade in amount and purchase price on the new vehicle, so essentially you get most of the taxes you paid back when you trade back in the bridge car.

Any plans for tow bar equipment for Taycan near future ? Or it’s not designed to tow anything.

Thanks
