Not sure if you have surround view or not but I only use the camera output on the right pane to see if there's an object or pedestrian behind my car, or cross traffic alerts. I rely on the left pane, which is the surround view, and it tells me where my car is in relation to other things like the cars next to and behind mine. That left pane is actually pretty good unlike the right pane.

Yes I agree the rear camera is atrocious. With that being said surround view does help allot. Still no excuse for a 100-230k car.

All back up cameras are getting worse. I had an ‘18 BMW X3 M40i, camera was perfect, moved to a ‘23 BMW iX M60 and the camera was noticeably worse. To make matters even worse, the X3 had an MSRP of $66,100 (USD) to the iX MSRP of $119,600 (USD). The Taycan is no worse than the iX, which leads me to believe the suppliers have made cheaper cameras to sell to the OEMs to keep their profit margins high.

Certainly possible, but another potential factor might be the still ongoing semiconductor component squeeze.

Couldn’t agree more. It is the 1st thing that shocked me when I used the Taycan. I had a CLA with a surround view camera before the Taycan and the camera was so much better.
- I hate the weird narrow view of the rear camera
- I have the dead angles/blurry view at the corners’ level on the 360 camera.

Completely agree with you. It is one of the worst cameras on any car. I also would like a useable reversing camera.

Instead of offering optional contrast stitching on floor mats, Porsche should give us full hd cameras. My Panamera 360 cameras have same video quality as a VW rental I had a week ago.

To put it nicely, I believe there is no worse back up camera in any car made as of today. I think a $20 POS drone has better image quality.

It's my daily so I'm used to the poor image quality. As soon as I jump into a different car, I am reminded how terrible it is. That's one of the reasons I use an aftermarket one. See this thread for more info:

I recently drove a Cayman on loan from the dealer while the Taycan was getting repaired. I thought the rear camera on that was much better than the Taycan. The camera position is also too low. It gets clouded with dirt and water spray the moment it starts raining.
Seems the camera was positioned by someone who only ever drives cars in and out of showrooms on sunny days and never on an actual dirty road in real weather.
