Hi all, this is my first post.

I purchased an approved used Taycan 4S last February and really love the car but I have had niggles and frustrations that when it comes to get sorted I start to wonder if the warranty is worth it?

One of the latest issues is that the drivers side port I use the most for home charging stopped working when swiping the sensor. I checked the passenger side and it is the same. I can get the drivers to open if I press the button on the centre console. As I type this I realise I have not tried the passengers via the console.

The car is currently at Porsche dealer having this issue looked at along with other issues. Their diagnosis has been that the ports are not aligned correctly and need realignment and calibration. Not covered under warranty and will be £444. Does this sound right? As it just suddenly stopped working it surely points to electrical or sensor issue??

As a side note (potentially related), the day I picked up the car the passenger port suddenly stopped working and they ended up having to swap the whole door mechanism over from a demo car while we waited. It is the only time the doors have been worked on in my ownership that I am aware.

They should goodwill that especially based on what happened when you picked it up (assuming you mentioned that to them).

I should add that the dealer I purchased from is not my local dealer who have been doing repairs/recalls. I did not mention at first what happened at pick up but did once they came back with their diagnosis/fix and cost to me. They basically implied they had been misaligned by someone so warranty would not cover it. So that’s when I said the selling dealer is the only one to have touched them.

Does it sound right to you that it could be an alignment issue as opposed to a sensor? The alignment hasn’t been a problem until now.

How far are you away from the dealer you bought from? If not too far I would take it back to them.

I just had both the modules replaced on my facelift 4S ST as the the AC side was getting stuck half opened and the charge cover door impaired message on the dash. They replaced the AC side but tech then said the DC side was giving readings that were out of spec so suggested changing that before it failed. They kept the car another couple of days for the part and left on test for a day.

I am in Norfolk and bought the car in Scotland. The first issue I had with the car was that the drivers footwell floor will flex as you step in and out of the car with the metal flexing making a “doonk” noise; most irritating every time you get in and out! My local dealer deemed it as acoustic and thus not a warranty item. £1,700 in labour just to investigate. After an initial back and forth they agreed to cover most of the cost with a £600 contribution from me. My contact at the dealer I have to say was helpful during this and it felt like his hands were tied. I was still not happy with parting £600 on this issue so he suggested trying to go back to where I bought it to see if they would contribute my share. After 2 emails to the salesman (no reply) and a message left with reception for call back (no reply), I emailed the dealer principle and got a phone call within 15 minutes from the salesman. They just fobbed me off and said not covered as it’s acoustic. Not interested in covering my share either. So I doubt they would be helpful with this!. After a lot of back and forth and a complaint to Porsche, the floor issue is now getting done this week FOC. Fingers crossed it does get sorted!

Comforting to hear you have got yours sorted. Seems like this is just going to have to be another thing I am going to have to fight them on!

Which dealer in Scotland, was it one of the Sytner franchises? O bought my latest Taycan from Mid Sussex (Sytner) which is 77 miles away but they have been really good. Probably because I bought the dealer principle's car after he had put 800 miles on it. He made a point of meeting me twice as part of the transaction and collection so I went back to him when the right charge cover failed and within 5 mins I had the service manager on the phone saying I will order parts today and bring it in next Wednesday when and I'll have a decent loaner for you.
Reach out to Porsche GB I find they are very responsive if you give them a call.

My local OPC is a High Wycombe 10 miles away but they want to charge stupid prices for everything. I bought my first Taycan from PRG Reading who got me a car very quickly when everyone was waiting for up to 12 months. They were good to deal with but always wanted the car for 2 days and a long wait for loan cars.
I had my last one serviced at Solihull (Sytner) and they were brilliant and cheaper. Whilst it is 95 miles away I go to the Midlands most Mondays so only a 3 mile detour on the way to our office up there.

Good luck. If they are fixing the floor foc, they should refund your £600 too!

Who is your local OPC?

Who is your local OPC?
OPC = Official Porsche Centre? My local is Norwich. I bought from Perth.

it sounds like you have been well looked after, but you are also spending good money with the brand.

when I contacted Porsche GB re the floor issue they just told me they rely on the recommendation of the dealer, so I need to go back to them. Which i can understand as they are relying on them to qualify it as a warrantable repair. Dealer just advised me to escalate with a complaint, which I did. It’s been made out to me that warranty & the dealer are splitting the cost?

i have not paid any money out re the floor issue, I refused to.

i also have a noisy passenger front door handle when it retracts. Dealer recommendation thus far is to quote me £1500 to replace all 4 door handles?? With that and the charge flap issues it just makes it feel like they are trying to recoup on the floor repair. They also just had 2 rear tyres and a £750 alignment from me too, which was a wake up!

£750 just for the alignment? Have you got the print out of before and after?

Unless they changed the front camber angle that is outrageous. Tyres and wheel alignment are much better done at a local tyre centre. Tyres need to be NFO or NF1 fitment but generally about £100 cheaper at a tyre centre. 4 wheel tracking is around £100 at a good tyre centre. Generally it is only the toe angles which need adjusting. If the front camber angle needs adjusting the front bumper has to come off and hence why OPCs can charge £600 to £1000. I got Sytner to do my foc before I picked it up. Details attached

Yes OPC is Official Porsche Centre

Your local one is privately owned by Lind Group who have Norwich and Kent and run by the owners son Russ. You could try Cambridge or Colchester both owned by Jardines which is a much bigger group.

Is it the outer door handle that makes a noise? May a squirt of silicone spray?

Thank you for your time replying to all this SpeUK, much appreciated.

Car is with them this whole week as I am currently away on holiday. They are doing the floor issue and MOT. I also raised the issues with the charge flaps and door handle. They have found a nail in OSR tyre and a rip to the cords on the NSR tyre. The rip is an MOT failure of course. I am close to needing rear tyres anyway and although I can get them £80 each cheaper I was going to give them the work, sort of a thank you for helping with getting the floor repair FOC, so happy with that. When he quoted the alignment cost I nearly fell over. He explained it is labour intensive etc. Done some googling and seemed actually consistent Porsche policy. I asked about the front bumper being removed and if this is not needed will it be cheaper and he said no, the whole process is labour intensive and they redo all the camera/cruise calibration as a safety issue. I have agreed to have it done but have not yet seen the report. I think only toe was out slightly. As I have paid for it, I asked them to adjust camber to the lower end of the tolerance to help with camber wear. We’ll see from the print out whether they did or not!

Door handle could well be a squirt of lube but I wanted to see what they would do to be honest, a test after the faff with the floor. Their recommendation along with what they are saying for the flaps has kind of proven my thoughts - I feel the are taking the pi$$. I’m waiting for him to come back to me on the flaps as I said if realign and calibrate is your recommendation I will be getting a 2nd opinion. So if you want to revisit your diagnosis, knowing the issues these doors and sensors have, you have the car until Monday to do so.

As a side note, the bulk of the £1700 quote for the floor repair is supposedly mostly labour and the safety need to drain the batteries down for access. He has said they are well into that part of the work but so far my battery charge on the app has only gone from 67% to 60% so far. So hmmm… more BS??

Yep, sounds like a lot of BS.

The tech ar Porsche Centre Mid Sussex said he did my tracking in about 20 mins at 8pm so hardly labour intensive.

Enjoy your hols and I hope the car gets sorted by the time you are back.
Call their bluff on tracking labour.

The rear tyre worn to the cords btw looks like not to be camber issue. Where it is I think I must of caught it on something. I thinking inner edge of a pot hole maybe? But this is what trigger the need for alignment.

I’m looking forward in a strange way to picking it up next week. I will report back what happens!

Colchester seems likely will be getting my business moving forward.

To update on this as I have the car back now.

The drivers footwell noise issue was all sorted ok. The suspected problem was the foam/padding between the floor & batteries had shifted; turns out I had none at all and didn’t even look like there had ever been! So glad I pushed on that one.

Rear tyres, MOT & alignment all done. They did some tweaks to the toe all round and some small changes to the camber. This was done and normal and sport+ height to ensure always in tolerance. Cruise control etc recalibrated too. Total cost was £1,665.

Day before pick up I queried the charge flaps and again asked if it was their final diagnosis, which it was. He said there were no electrical faults stored so little they can do. He was going to give it a test himself before pick up as he commented the technician had found them to be working. At pickup they work fine and continue to do so. In fact they are probably the most responsive they have ever been! I suspect they must of done something but I was not charged.

I had a rear light fault a few months back that went away after a week and they were working fine. I forgot I had even mentioned it to them. They found a faulty module and signs of water ingress so sorted under warranty.

Lastly the door handles. The tried several bouts of silicone lube to no success, hence recommendation to replace. I’ve asked several times why the recommendation for 4 handles when only an issue with one but never got an answer. I have asked for a price to replace the one for reference.

So all in a mixed experience but I’m chalking it up as positive. I do understand that they cant just go changing things under warranty without any evidence (re charge flaps), but they are working now so fine.

I’m due my 40k service in the summer and will see how price compares with Colchester. As long as they are close my feeling is to stick with Norwich for now. I have rapport with my contact now and I think he realises where my limits are, so we’ll see how it goes.
