Same boat. Also went through the Porsche NA route and was directed to Homelink who sent me back to Porsche NA before I started seeing the multiple reports here. Would have thought the support team at Porsche NA would have at least offered “We know and we’re sorry and we’re working on it” but they told me to call Homelink. Disappointed all around as my dealer is 2+ hrs away when a fix becomes available.
It amazes me how incompetent Porsche is in handling issues like this. First that they let this fall through the cracks of their software QA. But even if, after the first few customers or dealers reporting this Porsche should have pulled the offending software/firmware to disallow any dealer applying it to a pre-2025 Taycan, until they have a new version which works. They have already forced dealer to always work online, connected to Porsche servers, so pulling bad software, perhaps replacing it with an older, known good version, should be quite possible. Last but not least, this should be in the support database so that customer's time is not wasted chasing this down.

Has there been any action on this yet? I haven’t heard a peep on this from Porsche. Not a huge deal but would be nice to program my garage eventually

Nothing yet, has anyone heard a confirmation from Porsche on them acknowledging the issue yet?

My shop manager confirmed that Porsche NA and Germany are aware of the issue and reportedly working on a software patch. Germany reported that at this time they do not believe it is possible to just revert back to an earlier version of PCM due to other changes needed within the update. They did not offer a timeline for resolution.

That’s what I have heard to date and was confirmed by another dealer.

Still working on a simple patch.

Taking months and months for a relatively simply patch (worst case should be a patch which reverts to older software which worked). This is the kind of thing which will be the downfall companies which cannot catch up. While it is something which they might have been able to get away with in the past, the current generation of buyers will just buy something else. In the US, this is the kind of thing which can trigger Lemon Law mandatory buybacks (a defect which and manufacturer is unable to repair within certain amount of time or number of visits to the shop).

Hi All,

I purchased my Taycan 3 weeks ago and was also facing the same issue. Brought the car to the dealer and of course first the service personnel explained to me that I am stupid and cannot program a garage door opener. They I asked them to show it to me how to push "I button" when there are no physical buttons. They apologized and said that they need a day or two to fix it.
And guess what?!
They fixed it!
After reading so many posts here that Porsche NA is aware and that there is no fix, I did not believe them until I started programming my opener and somehow they managed to bring back to Synchronize option to my car.
Moral of the story: it is a shame that this bug exists but it is even more sad that so many dealers are so incompetent and are unable to solve it when a fix actually exists.

Has anyone come up with a fix?
I have the same problem now, and there isn't a fix yet. I spoke with the Service Manager and the SA and it appears Porsche needs to patch the SW so that the component that controls HomeLink behavior realizes it is a Taycan, not a Macan.

I've been waiting 8 weeks for the fix, and nothing yet.

I have my remote clipped to the sun visor. I could live with it this way indefinitely, but it's not right.
And somewhat sadly, the remote sometimes makes a slight rattling sound when attached to the visor that sounds like it's coming from somewhere else in the car. I've now realized the remote is the first thing to check!!

For the benefit of the rest of us could you please inquire with your dealer as to what it is they did to bring it back? It would be nice to know there was a workaround for this. AT the moment we're using an old style opener but since our car has the thermal and noise glass it doesn't really work to well unless you hold it out the window.

He only told me that he had to do some programming. Whatever he did, this is available knowledge to the service personnel, because he had no clue about the problem, but after I demonstrated to him, he said that he needs to do some reading about it and then 2 days later it works the same way as it is supposed to.

UPDATE - Heard from my service advisor today. Porsche has a patch for the Homelink problem. I’ll be going in Monday to get it fixed.

8/5/24 UPDATE - Took the car in today and patch was installed and works fine. I had to reprogram the Homelink of course, but at least it was a Taycan version this time.

For those who haven't programmed their HomeLink in while, this is a good tutorial --

Porsche Reno just reprogrammed my Taycan and I can no longer setup Homelink to open my garage door. When I attempt to set up Homelink, it wants me to set up Button I, II, or III. Part of the process involves pressing I, II, or III. They Taycan has no such buttons.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

I previously had the garage door bound to one of the diamond buttons. I'd like to get back there.
After 4 months the problem is finally resolved. My dealer contacted me a few weeks ago telling me that the new software was available. The first appointment I could get was last Friday. I took the car in, they reprogrammed it, and now Homelink works the way it originally did. I have it set up to open my gate and my garage - the way it was before I took the car in last May.

I just wish they could do over-the-air updates. With the 1 hour drive each way, this cost me 5 hours.
