My Taycan is just 6 months old and all 4 alloy centre caps are showing signs of corrosion on the edges. Are others seeing this and do we think this is a warranty issue? Not sure if relevant, I have the colour ones.

Just as a question…
How do you wash your car?
Yourselves at home or using one of the many ‘hand car wash setups’ …

I personally Hand wash only with quality products, do not even use alloy wheel cleaner as I have White caliper dust free discs and have no need

Very strange then…
Usually, it is the harsh cleaners that are used by the hand wash setups.

I had this on my BMW as well, I think the plastic just reacted to some chemical combination (IronX, shampoo, ceramic detail spray, etc…) and the hub caps started to corrode at the edges. Mine got replaced by the dealer … but this was within a couple of months of the new car.
I doubt the dealership will replace after 6 months or so.

Once, I got the new BMW ones, I coated them with GTechniq and they have been fairly fine since then…. but if I look closely, I too can see a bit of edges going off.

Try and get a set from the dealer…. you may get lucky.

Do you jet wash the wheels? Always happens on my BMW centre caps and BMW have always replaced them foc at end of warranty. They have also replaced 4 alloys on one X5 and 2 alloys on my last X5 due to corrosion around the centre cap all at end of 3 year warranty.
I have one centre cap on my Taycan showing signs of corrosion/water ingress after 8 months. I now avoid jet washing the center of my wheels when cleaning them as I doubt Porsche will be as generous as BMW

Never met wash myself, however as a result of teething issues the car was back at the dealer 3 times in the first 3 months, each time the car was returned immaculately clean, I wonder if they jet wash ?

Unlikely to be corrosion of the base material. Those caps are typically aluminum and plastic. What can happen is that they get pried off using steel tools which can deposit metals that can rust on them. Very likely only a surface condition that can be removed with proper cleaning.

I had the same issue on BMW wheels and complained to the tire service for that. They answered it’s a corrosion of rim, and the reason is the axle hole is not painted. I understood it’s a BMW issue but I see it’s probably the way rims are not painted in the axle for most rim brands.

I have had this issue on all of my Porsche's over the years - coloured or monochrome - over a 3 year period. Have a moan at your dealer and get them replaced free of charge

My theory is salt air ( in my case) but shouldn't happen really.
