Did you know your Taycan has a compass and altimeter?

Discovered this while trying to get the PCM out of a hypnotic glitch (which is happening way too often lately). I've had the car nearly 2 years and never saw it before. I thought I had tried all the cool dashboard options, so maybe this is from some OTA update? Curious to hear from others, but don't ask me how I found it because the system offers it to me inconsistently.

Yes, I have the compass as the first line on the right tube ever since I had the car. I think it was showing the date or something originally. I saw elevation as an option as well, but didn't care for it.

There is a nice similar looking Compass in PCM 5 on a Cayenne but not in the tube, however, I was disappointed having nothing similar in the Taycan PCM 6.

I was hoping for this exact view of the Compass, not just one of the lines in the Information stack. Now we need to know how to make it visible the way you are showing. Please share your car Year and Trim (may be only for CT), and then Software version would be helpful to compare against.

I dont have the CT, I have the RWD, MY 2022. I found this while checking the right tube options. One option was Navigation and clicking it revealed a few options, including Compass. It looked like it had many other cool features if you used the PCM navigation to reach a destination (but I use Apple Maps so won't be benefitting from that).

What was odd was that as I was clicking around the compass was not offered each time I went into Navigation, but that may just have been due to the fact the PCM was glitching out.

See if you can find it there and if not, I'll try to get you more info.

Right Tube has to be in Navigation mode, then click into it, gives a menu that has Compass as one of the options.

This is actually above the Maneuver Info check box that was my other find at delivery, by having it unchecked, Right Tube is not overridden with turn-by-turn pop up during Navigation to a Charger (EA), where I want to monitor HV battery temp going up as a check point at all times.

I am too excited about it, no question, since I prefer to have one, since it cannot be optioned on a non CT instead of a Chrono Clock. This is a really nice Cayenne PCM 5 implementation where you can have it in the Right tube or as an overlay option in the Map view.

I wouldn’t want to keep the bigger compass up though because I like the other info.

In the 911, I do keep the bigger compass up, but only because it’s separate from my info tube with things like oil temp.

When I first put it up, I thought the degrees displayed was the outside temperature because that’s what was displayed before and it was a reasonable value at the time.

I later realized I was either very wrong or it was very hot outside. ?

Why do you want to see a compass? Surely if you have the main maps in north-up mode then you know at a glance which direction the car is facing? Or is this a US thing (where freeways are often labelled north-south)?

Yes, this is used mainly in the USA because the roads (not only highways) are labeled NSWE.

What's a map & compass? Things old people use? Just follow turn by turn directions from the nav.

How do you get the combo display in the right tube? My default is compass but I like the combo you have better.

I've already forgotten how I set that up, even though it was only a couple weeks ago ...
... but I'm pretty sure I had to go through a PCM menu. Probably have to be in Park. Might include clicking on the three horizontal dots, an action which is often the key for unlocking all sorts of options.
Once you reach that menu, you can select the items for those four lines in the right tube from many different possibilities. Definitely my favorite setup for the right tube!
