So our house is old like 200 years and the earth relies on earth spikes. The installation of 3 phase to the garage was completed today but the earth reading is 120 ohms. The guidelines I believe are that it must be below 100 ohms and I've heard some chargers will not work if they detect a value higher than 100 ohms. Does anyone now if the PMCC monitors earth resistance? I plan to get this resolved one way or another, probably earth spikes for the garage. The house seems OK at 84 ohms but is over 30 metres from the garage.

Thanks

Yes it does. Check the manual but mine reports and expects the earthing.

I have an earth just high Ohms. The house used to be 220 ohms. So wondering if it has a threshold.

I've checked the installation manual and nothing in there.

That I don't know but would.need to check.

Get my GTS ST tomorrow after being delayed with the heater issue.
Great news. Is the heater fixed? Still heard nothing on mine. It's still stuck at Crueztwald.

Post some pictures

Apparently it was replaced within the last 2 weeks.

I think they're delaying shipments to remedy at source now rather than ship, stop sale,.repair, deliver.

Wow that's quick. Yes I reckon they are holding cars back, hoping the customers don't find out by keeping the dealers in the dark. My SA is being honest so it ain't working. Awful customer service but that's Porsche. All I ask for is honesty and a firm delivery date. If it's another month then no problem. Gives me time to sort this earth issue.

I've checked the installation manual and nothing in there.
There’s no limit specified in the PMC manual that comes with the car either (there is an option to deactivate the protective conductor monitoring).

I think you need to get your spark to improve the earthing generally. Either more / deeper earth rods or another earthing solution if you’re in an area that has difficulty with getting a low earth impedance because of terrain and dryness.

Oh yes it will be fixed but with a collection looming and electricians who have failed to trun up 3 times, (the norm in France) I worry this will delay collection.

Our house is very old so relies on earth spikes. The ground here is full of limestone rocks which causes issues for the earth rods so it really is hit and miss. I think the plan will be a couple of earth rods just for the garage.

You could ask them about other earthing methods like deep buried copper matting if the rods aren’t doing the business.

In the meantime you could deactivate the protective conductor monitoring on the EVSE as a temporary measure.

Thanks yes will try. I'm waiting for them to come back with a proposal. The cheapest option of course will be rods for the garage. This work has been going on since 9th Feb. But I'll get there one day. At least I now have my 3 phase socket in the garage allbeit with a 120 ohms earth.

Since your installer seems to have measured the resistance, what is his view and recommendations?? Do I remember correctly that the installer was an approved EVSE installer?? I have not found any values in the manual or on my unit that specifies this requirement.

I have seen that they measured these values whilst installing my PMCC but I never got any data given to me. Since they said it was good and the car charged fine, we left it at that. And it has continued to work just fine.

I am aware of some issues in particular with Renault Zoe and they have been said to be particularly picky about Earth resistance. I am not sure if it is correct but heard that 150 ohms Max was a requirement. There had been some problems to get ZOE to charge at public chargers because of this. The ZOE can charge up to 22kW though so might be different?

Yes the company is IRVE qualified in fact that is all they do. So they have not signed off the work as complete. I think they cannot give a certificate unless it is below 100 ohms. So I'm waiting for them to propose a solution. This may cost me more as well of course. The earth issues are not really their fault. But they've messed me about so much then we will see.

I'm tempted to buy a tester but the unit my electrician was using cost 400 euros. I found a cheaper option but still 170 euros.
