I just received the attached update. After 6-8 mins drive the nav crashed as before. After 5-8 restarts it stays blacked out with the blue circle rounding in the middle continuously. Only restarts again when the car stopped and closed for a while. Than again the same, couple of mins drive with active nav and a crash.
Useless 4 hours in the shop again.

You tried the "two finger salute" (to reset the PCM)?

Of course, many times. Useless.

Other. While I was waiting for the software update my SA is offered me a J1.2 order, any model with 25% off. Still not need this, will definitely go back to 911.

Well, then do like @Matt-Taycan and take your car to Sheffield for a new PCM. Seriously, your OPC cannot update some software on the car that leaves you worse off (or no better) than before. Surely, they want to take some ownership of the problem? You took the car straight back?

EDIT: If they will just shrug, it is time that you take your business elsewhere.

As many others reported before new PCM did not solve the issue.
Since we have 1 dealership per country, taking elsewhere is not an option.
Additionally I communicate directly with 'Smartmobility and Porsche Connect', not a dealership issue.
Of course I reported it back them immediately both, dealership and Porsche Connect/Smart Mobility.
Dealership is doing what the headquarter says. Additionally the Hungarian dealership is owned directly by Porsche in fact.

My communication with smartmobility is as frustrating as no doubt yours is @Bognar67. My car is going in soon, they insist a software update is the technical solution and because I didn’t report this was happening until recently, no goodwill for Porsche Connect fees, despite they know this issue has existed for months. This is how modern software and customer relationships work eh 🤣

Perhaps. But there is one contrarian on this thread (who got a new "central computer").
Dealership is doing what the headquarter says.
I am still on 3882 and don't have it as bad as you report. How does headquarter account for that? Anyway, it is really upon them to come up with a plan. Keep us posted.

My communication with smartmobility is as frustrating
My UK guy was very open about it. Problem is reported to Germany. Nothing more they can do on their end.

As others mentioned before with switched of Charging Planner (tested now) it is not crashing.
So the solution will maybe not easy. This seems hardware issue as processing or memory. Or needs new program that not crashes the existing hardware.
Nav without Charging Planner is more or less useless.

See my attached .pdf on my original post.
That merely states how to update the PCM. I am asking how Porsche explain the difference between your awful experience and the less bad experience of the next guy (me, say)? There are 1000s of Taycan owners out there, some are on this forum and fewer still are having a truly awful time with their nav. So there must be something that accounts for these differences.
This seems hardware issue as processing or memory.
That is the speculation because of many reports - myself included - from Benelux where there are chargers on every lamp post. But, again, I only yesterday had an exchange with @Dabz on this thread who reported his nav crashing all of the time in Bath(UK). I have been to this neighbourhood recently. There are NO chargers and very few roads. My nav did not have any problems. There is something going on in our cars that is just different. For some people, eg @Matt-Taycan, a new PCM seems to have fixed things.

Since your software update seems to have improved nothing, if you are still on warranty, I would press Porsche to replace the hardware. Or come up with another proposal.

From hazy memory, another one of the rare success stories on this thread was someone who had ALL their software upgraded. There may be a compatibility problem between the PCM v38xx and some other module in your car (eg the BMS). Perhaps that module in your car is on an old version.

It seems to me that across the whole universe of Taycans, it is wrong to say that every nav is buggered and that some software bug is responsible for it. If it were so easy, and the bug easily reproduced, Porsche would find it easier to provide a fix.

One thing you might be able to try in cooperation with your dealer is to borrow one of their used Taycans (ideally same MY). Drive that along the same route you used yesterday and see whether that nav crashes. If it survives, get the dealer to compare the two cars.

Forum link to the TSB (65/23) mentioned in your post on NHTSA is this thread.
I see nothing in that TSB that indicates it addresses navigation unit problems, such as hanging.

Well, I received the following email with the attachment from Germany shared with my local dealership:

Dear Colleagues,

We are contacting you on behalf of one of your customers:

Mr. János Bognár
BP: 3200045542

Following guidance received from our Technical Department, we kindly ask you to arrange a service appointment with the customer regarding a navigation issue affecting the vehicle with VIN: WP0ZZZY1ZNSA57877.

Please note that the currently installed MIB software version 3882 is outdated. The system should be updated to MIB software version 3885. This update must be carried out at the dealership using PIWIS.

Detailed instructions can be found in the attached document.

After completing the update, we would appreciate your confirmation as to whether the concern has been resolved. Should the issue persist, please provide us with a new VAL for further analysis.

Thank you very much in advance for your cooperation.

Yours sincerely,

Didn't that email motivate the update you mentioned in post #661? That is, that email predates your update, yes? And your dealer can now reply to Germany "Update to 3885 made no flipping difference."

Did I understand this correctly?

PS: Going by that email, I guess I should make an appointment at my service center since I am on 3882. And I would hate to be outdated.
