Is that with the charge planner off @F1Ruaraidh? I ask because the Porsche centre who did mine suggested that (plus many members on here have good reason to believe charger data overwhelming the PCM is a big part of the issue).

To pick up on the communication issue, the smartmobility agent that has been my contact since I first reported PCM crashing says he’s not aware its a widespread problem.

Surprising given he liaised with the Porsche Centre to book it in who were clear on emails that 3885 is not the solution and that Porsche AG is working that.
Works fine with the charge planner off but then that's zero use for a stress free 750 mile drive whereas the 8 year old 145k mile Tesla (which has already had three OTA updates this year - three more than the Porsche has had in two years ownership!!!) just worked without any issue at all.

It also has free supercharging which obviously helps sway the decision!! I took the Porsche last year and it was a blast despite utter unreliability on the EV side (cooling fans seized, AC charger had isolation issues and DCDC converter refused to work on Superchargers over 60% SoC without a yellow ring of doom) but these were all sorted under warranty on its return - so charging was a complete horlicks that trip too but for HW rather than SW reasons.

The Mrs loves the Tesla and not the Porsche so when she decided to come this year, I didn't argue very hard given the lack of charge planning....

An EV without charge planning is as much use as a chocolate teapot, particularly on long trips.

Ho hum

PS For the curious: The wonders of the internet means that someone did actually try to make a chocolate teapot:

Haha, absolutely 😆

The charge planner data hosepipe does seem to be prime suspect.
Just terribly poor software development and validation. Bet they didn't validate it properly with charge planning enabled.

Cariad is truly hopeless. However Porsche AG CS are not much better.

I'm tempted to write a Christophorus style spoof article showing what real ownership of Taycans is like.

FWIW - This (email excerpt) just received from UK Smartmobility..... They promised to update me this week and today have done so.... ...at least the UK Porsche comms have improved.

I hope my email finds you well.

PAG are continuing to investigate the matter and as soon as we find a resolution I will be sure to let you know.

Unfortunately, we do not have a timeframe for resolution...........

Hi everyone, Just to let you know, I'm having the same problem in Italy: crashes every 5 minutes and the navigation system restarts.
I was returning from a 200km trip, and while driving on the highway, the arrival percentage kept rising!!
After 3 evs, let's say I'm doing the math in my head... 😁

Got mine back, they didn’t update the PCM afterall and just told me the workaround is to disable charge planning (which to be fair as worked).
Mind you they also couldn’t replicate any of my numerous other issues, creaks, rattles etc so basically did nothing other than sell me 2 new unexpected rear tyres

You don’t have to buy new tyres if you don’t want to.
I’ll never buy tyres by Porsche…. Too expensive.
Only on the free market

They found a number of large slits down to the cords on the rears - I believe because I had to drive ver debris from a recent accident on the way..the accident had happened minutes before, so they weren't safe to drive.
To be fair I always prefer having tyres done at the OPC because when I had a puncture repair at a local tyre place they ruined my alloy and refused to pay even after repairing it (long story, went legal). But it was an expensive trip when I expected just a software update and warranty repair :)

update APRIL 26:
Hi everyone, I'm traveling to Croatia for the Easter holidays.
The navigation system works perfectly, no problems or crashes. Destinations are saved, the battery charge percentage is correct, and the standard-satellite map transition is smooth.
Even the CarPlay/Navigation transition is smooth. Waze continues to give me speed camera information in the background while I use PCM navigation.
In short, it's incredible, but it works.
At this point, I think the problem is the LTE signal and the roaming of the European SIM, which can cause network errors in different countries.
I noticed a navigation error when switching between Italy - Slovenia -Croatia.Then everything's fine.
I hope this helps.
Happy Holidays 🙂

My understanding of the issue is the density of charge stations visible to the onboard nav which causes a caching issue. Looking on the Porsche app on my phone the number of chargers in Croatia vs the UK for example is massively different which could explain why it's working ok over there.

3885 installed over a month ago and no issues since then. Have done close to 4000km since and the sat nav, including charge planning, has worked flawlessly.

Maybe it was a backend issue after all? I did not have problems last 2 months. I do have a new PCM unit, but that will never solve SW issues.

And there’s a few hundred people for which 3885 and pcm replacement did nothing. Me included.

The issue is not in the backend, hence porsche is working on a PCM update. It’s also why taycans running 4360 don’t have it.

It’s a caching issue, and sadly 4000km on common routes with not many public chargers will probably not trigger it.

I also don’t get it on my daily commute, but as soon as I go out of that daily path, I get the problem.

At this point it’s pointless to speculate. Multiple sources from multiple countries have confirmed a software update is happening, and I myself know from people working on it that it is happening… eventually.

My local dealer have been told Q2/3 for a fix. They do not yet know if it’ll be OTA or a dealer job.

I’ll not hold my breath
