Yes, but the regular key, has an (analogue?) key inside it!

I just discovered this at the weekend when my key fob batteries died(I didn't react to a warning the week before) result was, I wasn't able to lock the car, thankfully it drove home until I got my replacement fob. Would you know where to insert the analogue key to start the car ? I couldn't figure it out .
