Do you get to keep the software? Also curious to know how it works because from what I’ve read you’re supposed to kill the internet connection which is needed for remote connecting to the computer 🤔
I do not know. I will let you know how it goes. Hope I can get the appointment soon to make it happen.

@Jayyvr890, which lights do you have since both are Matrix on J1.2 with one being Standard and the other HD with more elements.

My 2024 GTS ST is a J1.1 but I love the PDLS+ Matrix lights on it. We live in a very rural area and the lights are absolutely superb at lighting the back roads up, especially in winter.

I still don't think they are as good as the Laser Lights I had on my G81 BMW M3 Touring but they are good enough for my needs.

Cornering lights - I'm sure I read in the manual that the more aggressive the drive mode you are in, the more functional, effective and pronounced the PDLS+ cornering effect is. So if you are in Sports Plus for example, you should notice them doing their 'thang' in a more obvious manner.
When / if you upgrade to HD Matrix you will be even more impressed - leaves the original matrix for dust (64K pixels per headlight compared to 84!!).

I've had these Matrix lights for 5 years on my 2 J1.1s. They provide great illumination on roads where there is no central reservation barrier that separates the on coming traffic. On roads where there is a central barrier, I frequently get flashed by on coming trucks. This is because the camera on my car cannot see the headlights of on coming vehicles because they are hidden by the barrier, so these vehicles get maximum illumination. On coming car drivers are protected from my lights by the barrier, but truck drivers sit higher up and thus get blinded by my lights.

Well described. This is the most typical situation. However I've got some light shows even when following a car.

Are the HDs worth getting in the US with the neutered programming?

Agreed. I never use mine if I'm on motorway or dual carriageway roads. Only on single carriageway roads, for those exact reasons.

My previous Laser Light equipped BMW's also did the same thing.

With HD Matrix – ‘magic carpet’, it is important to remember that when driving through narrow construction sites on motorways, the ‘magic carpet’ is only displayed as wide as the vehicle itself.

This is no longer an issue with HD matrix. The left side light only up as high as typical barriers here in Germany.

I only got flashed at once so far on a divided road and that might have been because it was wet.

I also think that the range is indeed adaptive to speed - at least it always feels like that on a divided road going from 100 to 130 kph - I have to take a video and see if that is actually true and not just my imagination.

No mystery really (note also that there is an adverse weather function which is activated when rear fog lamp is on which broadens the light beam range and reduces glare at speeds < 60 km/h (37 mph).
