But if you get bad cards your car may spend 3 months in service waiting parts or technicians without any estimate when it will run again.
Meanwhile you pay insurance costs and the yearly 320 € payment for your cellular network connection. You also need to pay 1 k€ yearly to extend your parts warranty insurance or take the risk to pay N x 10 k€ of the needed parts.
My 4S was driveable last time before christmas (2023).
Sorry to spoil this..
Did you get a loaner from Porsche (K-Auto, the importer)?
I'm considering to move to Taycan GTS (new whenever it becomes available) from X5 45e and following this forum how Taycans work in our conditions with extreme cold (Oulu, down to -34C this winter) and get serviced, especially from the importer point of view

My RS6 lost £43k in two years….
Sure, that's about 39%
Ok let's speculate: that would equal to Taycan GTS of 150k€ dropping to 91,5K€ in two years - this is a lot, but comparable to ICE cars?

Yes. After a bit firm questioning they granted me Audi A3 from Europcar. 3 cylinders and starting system errors..

I think Oulu is a Porsche service center but not a full dealer? Propably they do more service than the mandatory cabin air filter change/charge 567 €.
From here - 260 km away from the nearest service - can't really say this works well.

One big problem with the EV's is the lack of HV service staff. Not many in Finland. If there's problem in Oulu they need to send the needed special tools and technician too. Takes time.

And one thing nobody has pointed out here  is the price drop. Bit over 2 years ago this 4S cost 110 k€ and as we now need to discuss about cancellation of the transaction with the dealer the price is 60 k€.

Well thank you to the community for your support. Especially those who jumped from Audi RS cars to a Taycan.

I saw the car today; drove it and agreed the deal. It’s mine. Collecting in a week.

The GTS feels comparable to the RS6 power wise but it certainly feels more special inside. It always upset me that my RS6 cost £60k more than a boggo A6 but had the same dash and interior with the exception of seats…. I love the black 21” RS alloys too! The car is absolutely loaded…. Pretty much every option!

Had a great chat with the guys at Porsche about depreciation. And yes; it’s those who have paid full whack in the ‘boom’ with next to no discounts that have been hit hardest and with those I sympathise. To be fair I don’t think they’re terrible anyway - the cheapest car on auto trader is a 2020 4S for £43k and that’s a cat s!!! Look at the price of a four year old RS4 that started life at £85k….

Now to get a charger installed!

Congrats! You will love the GTS! Did you get a Sport Turismo or the Sedan? Both are great, but I'm partial to the looks of the ST.

When I see a click bait title like this - my response is that "you should be".

Hi Art

Did you get your Taycan back or still driving the lovely A3?

Yes, we have a Porsche service center here and at least with my old Boxster the service they have provided has been ok, even indeed it's on expensive side. They are having also Audi service under the same roof so they probably have enough staff to service EVs and also work with HV.

All, please tell me that I would order Taycan GTS whenever it becomes available rather than a RR Sport hybrid

I'm still driving A3.

So during last two weeks no news from Porsche Espoo. They have not had power on.

So many days without the car I can't even calculate. Roughly 100 days since 19th december. This is supposed to be my winter car. Now the summer is coming (?) and it's not far away to put battery back on 997.

So would I recommend someone to buy a Taycan ... ?
In short form - no.
More analytically - it's a nice car when it works. It's a bit too big for smaller roads - as wide as a normal Ford Transit! It is low too - with suspension in low/eco mode you need to be careful with speed bumps and other spring time bumps on roads. Bottoming the suspension does not feel good. Having a hit on bottom (battery) may cost you 50 -80 k€.
Your situation may be better with the local service site. From eastern Finland all sites are 250+ km away and this car really needs much more service than the boxer ones. During ca 5 years I've visited just once at Lindqvist Mäntsälä to check light settings in the 997 C4.

For me the AJS from 1962 is enough of the british industry .

This thread is ironically the exact opposite of my situation. I travel a lot for my son's sports as he is on an elite travel team and not just locations around the commuting distance of my home. Not to mention having the family get back into skiing and going up to the mountains.
The former, was great when I first got the car. Fast charging stations were all maintained, worked and there were not a lot of non-tesla cars on the road. Then, I don't need to tell this community what happened.
I can't plan a 3 hour trip to a tournament and put in a buffer of another 2 hours to deal with a line at the charging stations and the Nissan leaf that is in front of you in line (of 6 cars) and plugs in for an hour and 15 min as it is the only working charging station of the bank of 6 and all of the other ones around are not working.
Then, forget going skiing, hiking, etc. in the mountains. The resorts that have a charger, the person who gets there first is able to use it and they stay plugged in for the 3-4 days they are on vacation and the resort has no policy to deal with it.
So, I have placed an order for a RS6 Avant Performance back in December and finally got a build date in September! So, may be buying a MB E 63S performance wagon that just came into my local dealer (but don't like the MB as much as the Audi Avant)
I just have come to the conclusion (regardless of resale) that unless you have a second car for road-trips in the US having an EV is impractical unless you have time to burn and are patient to wait at a walmart or mall for up to 3 hours to charge.
I personally don't have that luxury and have decided to go back to gas until all of the mandates also apply to maintenance of the charging infrastructure, they build more in resort locations, open up the tesla network, etc. that makes it possible to plan a trip and actually get to the destination at the estimated time of arrival with stops (+/- 20min).

It is a sweet Sport T, GTS and personally was going to trade my sedan in for this or the Turbo, but if I can't use it for what I need and not spend the equivalent of my entire commuting time on a trip at a charger waiting in line, I have to just give up on the EV thing for now.

Love the car and glad you are happy with it! I hope I love the RS6 as well.

I completely agree with W1NGE, the Taycan is an absolute marvel of a car - the acceleration and poise is just unbelievable HOWEVER, so is the depreciation.

I owned my Taycan Turbo for all of 8 months but struggled to see much over 200 miles of range, indeed for the latter part of my ownership I was seeing <200 miles. Note I wasn't driving around in Sport Plus mode nor was I behaving like a boy racer (okay, maybe once or twice!).

I know there are various opinions regards depreciation but I couldn't comprehend how this model of Porsche could depreciate at a faster rate than say a 911. Perhaps it's the fact that there the availability of new cars is so good? It seems that dealers can't give the cars away as most have ample Taycan stocks sat on their forecourts. Historically (I might be wrong so please correct me), dealers never discounted a Porsche so why are they doing so with Taycans? Doing this has to have a major effect on used car residuals surely?

Perhaps people are put-off with the scare stories of battery replacement costing circa £40k and don't want to see their cars depreciate drastically as they approach the 8 year warranty cut-off? I image the older the car gets, the sharper the depreciation?

I would definitely look at another Porsche Taycan in future but only when the battery technology increases and the prices stabilise. In the meantime, I opted for a nice 2024 V8 Cayenne S - no range anxiety, costly to run but boy does it sound GOOD!! I think I am back to 'Smiles per Gallon' driving rather than 7p kWh :D

Good luck with your decision OP - I am sure that you will have lots of fun with a Taycan, I definitely did!
