Do you think Porsche Service should have something like this?
TSB - technical service bulletin- Porsche issue these for known faults detailing root cause and remedy for Porsche Dealerships. Thanks for the quick response.
The boot is completely empty as is the back seat etc. The noise is 100% coming from the rear. Sounds like it is in the boot. Certainly not seat springs. Seems to be worse over uneven road. The video doesn’t do it justice, it’s louder in reality. Listen to the noise at 1:48. It’s really creaking !!
What’s a TSB, and what’s chassis EAR?
OP said the shelf wasn't in place. It could be the rear parcel shelf not quite properly seated. Had a similar noise, had my daughter ride in the back trying to locate the noise, and she did. I took the shelf out and put it back in, made sure the shelf supports were out - fixed the noise. Perhaps take the shelf out completely and see if it goes away. You will probably hear additional motor whine though without the shelf.
Electric cars lack engine noise, which makes any creaks and noises stand out so much more than ICE cars. When I drove Teslas, I got really good at taking apart my interior and quieting rattles - usually took me about 6-8 months to get them all. I did some of that with the Taycan, but don't have the time to put into this anymore, so only fixing really annoying ones. Not long ago my Taycan's dash had to be completely taken apart to repair some HVAC servos, which introduced a new, but this time intermittent rattle, so hard for me to fix it as it only shows up sometimes.
To love your Taycan is to learn to love its flaws, including its rattles.
Glad to hear, you're welcome@prj - Well that worked a treat! I adjusted the boot catches as you suggested and they seem to have made a big difference. I also added some grease to the boot latch too and it seems to have solved the issue completely. No more creaks. So thank you for taking the time to do that. Very much appreciated.
Thanks for all the other advice too. Problem now solved. What a great forum.![]()
Yea, Porsche is no Lexus. I've owned a couple Lexus cars, most creak/rattle free cars I ever owned (and I've owned a bunch of cars over the decades). Porsche is somewhere middle of the road, started creaking, squeaking, and rattling towards the end of first year. You'd think all these years of manufacturing experience, but perhaps Porsche just got used to selling cars with loud engines which drowned out the cabin rattles?Creaking came back again ! Porsche replaced the two rear boot struts and the problem seems to have gone away. Posted this as it may help somebody in the future with the same issue.
I must admit I'm surprised at the number of minor issues in the first 6 months of ownership (luckily all covered under Porsche warranty). I've owned BMWs, Audis, Land Rovers, Volkswagens, even a Tesla and non have rattled and squeaked like this car has. Admittedly the Discovery fell to pieces mechanically (which is a given with JLR products!), but non have creaked or rattled. Also I'm surprised at how bad the PCM tech is compared to other brands too. Yes, the car drives and rides beautifully, but their tech is not up to standard for a brand at this price point. Surely they just need to poach a few nerds from the likes of Rivian / Tesla to sort out their tech!Yea, Porsche is no Lexus. I've owned several Panameras and they've all been rock solid: no squeaks, rattles, loose trim, ...; the Taycan is a completely different ball-game. Maybe Porsche should build the Taycan in Leipzig?Yea, Porsche is no Lexus. I've owned a couple Lexus cars, most creak/rattle free cars I ever owned (and I've owned a bunch of cars over the decades). When they replaced the struts they also re-adjusted all the stops again, same as you did the first time. It might come back again the same way... let's hope not.Creaking came back again !
