Ah, a little over the top perhaps :) ... but I happened upon a nice pre-owned Porsche design subsecond 42mm watch that exactly matches the clock in the car, and I could not resist

(The watch is nice and well-made, but I personally wouldn't pay new price for it)

For future people upgrading their clocks to compasses. This is a 2025, and it was more difficult than I hoped, but exactly what I should have expected.

Part 9J0-919-107-AE-OG6 from suncoast. This is “Bordeaux red” and it matches my seat belts, but not the cluster (that’s default gray/black). Cost was $820 and shipped from Germany to Midwest US for $125. Just over $1,000 w tax.

Use spudgers to pop all the retaining pins around the large part in the center. The rear retaining clips are the most difficult. Just put the spudger/plastic pry bar deep at an angle for leverage. Take care not to damage your dashboard.

Before you do anything else, prep a large piece of cardboard to protect the upper dash. The metal retaining clips are pointy and can dent the material. Ask me how I know.

Use a 17mm wrench to gently rotate ccw, opposite of indicated arrow on rear of clock. Once turned 20 degrees it will slide out front.

I’m sure there’s a way to disconnect the 3 pin harness but I couldn’t figure it out. Instead, I turned the face of the clock ccw until it clicked and the glass came off. You can then carefully wiggle the assembly from the plastic housing. The only thing holding it in is the friction of the 3 pins. Once out, you can access the interior tab holding the wiring harness in. Poke it and gently wiggle. It should come free. It took more poking force than expected.

Reminder: careful with the dash!

Plug the compass in and note the UP triangle. When you plug it in, the compass will orient so be careful that you know what way up is. Insert and seat it about 20 degrees ccw and then carefully put the 17mm to work, get fully seated, perhaps use a detail towel to hold it firmly and give it a clockwise twist until triangle straight up.

Push the thicker ends of cable back down below dash and into compass
assembly, press skinny part of wire into channel on the bottom (of the top part you’re holding). Note clip locations and align, push back down.

You should be done.

Awesome, I'm probably the 0.001% out there that is seriously considering changing the clock to a compass.

Can you confirm after plugging it in, the digital data(altimeter and coordinates) displays with no need for coding?

No need for coding - it just works.

I think the compass should come standard in the CT. I mean, it’s for adventure and compasses are actually useful to have at a glance.

I know there’s a digital compass gauge cluster complication you can add, but it isn’t compatible with the cluster setup I’m using.

Another clock? There are 5 clocks in the car: my phone, my watch, CarPlay, dashboard, and sports chrono! The compass is such a nice subtle addition.

Haha, same thought here and 100% agreed. Actually I plan to install this in my GTS ST. I'm waiting for a pre-owned version to go on eBay, thus far I have not found one for the Taycan, and only for the current gen Cayenne, price was too high to take a chance on pins not lining up. I'm trying to keep this cost under $500

By any chance do you have a picture of the pins on the harness plug?

No. Sorry. It’s asymmetrical. The force required to push it into the compass made me feel like it may have unplugged with just sheer yanking force. I really didn’t want to pull a wire from the plug.
