If the plug and charge does not work, start the charging from the Porsche app and then plug it in
plug in first then start the charge via app

sometimes it’s free and all you need to do is plug in

this mirrors the instructions at the station

Is this also the case with the East Brunswick location?
I've been scouting out EA stations for an upcoming Amherst MA <> Milton DE trip, and the East Brunswick station looks like a rare EA success story.
Not sure I am in South Jersey, EB is Central NJ.

Look at comments from recent, prior check-ins on the plugshare app to learn about problems at specific EA sites. Use the comments, not plugshare's numeric rating for the site.

Last week I traveled fairly widely in Northeast and almost always ran into EA issues: dead units; very slow charging; extremely busy (I am talking about you Newburgh, NY!). Once I had so many problems at an EA locale (with 8 chargers!; wow) that I went to EVgo and happily paid for a problem-free charge....please, Lord, give us broader access to Tesla chargers!
Re Newburgh, NY EA site: after reading horror stories on plugshare about that site, during last two weeks of August on road trips between Ohio and Connecticut which took me by Newburgh, I planned routes and charging stops to bypass that EA location. Glad I did.
Fortunately I can EA road trip not on weekends and not on holidays.

I have used the EB location twice, although last time was sometime in May.

Went to look in the app and all my charging history is gone…will need to figure out later. It’s a 160 mile drive for me so I’m assuming I got there with ~25% battery. I usually charge to 80-85% and never more than 30 minutes….so Bottomline, it was uneventful.

Agree, look at Plugshare before you commit to an EA station, to not waste your time. My most recent PNW trip had 50% of the chargers offline at one EA location, and all offline at another.

Also, suggest you don't trust the Taycan's navigation for EA charging station availability. Today my navigation said all 3 EA stations were available near my destination, only to check the Plugshare app which indicated nothing was working during visits in the last few days. Looking at the Plugshare comments it was clear that all the EA stations had been offline for weeks with hardware issues.

Thanks -- the best CCS1 DCFC stops are utterly forgettable!
The worst, well, at least they provide entertaining forum rants...

Quoted for emphasis!

In more detail, the PlugShare 1-10 rating does not reflect an average of individual 1-10 ratings.
Instead, if, say, 10% of drivers fail entirely to charge, but the other 90% succeed after waiting an hour for an available charger, then another half-an-hour to get EA phone staff to reset the unit, etc., only to receive a charge at ~20 kW, then the station receives a 9.0 rating!

Reviews on Google can also provide some entertaining color commentary.
