Key Battery Dies Quick

I've only had my Taycan 4S since December 2022 and I've had to change the batteries in both keys. One was after 3 months and one after 6 months. Has anyone else had this problem? Any other keys I've had have lasted a few years.

Batteries from the dealer are likely to die early since we don’t know how long it’s been in use on delivery.

I had the same issues and once I had new batteries in, it was an non-issue.

I leave my key in the car inside my garage. Perhaps this is causing the drain.

I switched to Varta batteries in all my fobs. They last much longer than some of the cheaper brands.

Don't keep it within "earshot" of the car (I think it is 30 feet). The key will be in constant communication and the battery will quickly drain.

Thanks. Seems that is the culprit. Now all I have to do is change a 30 year habit ;-)

or.. you might try a faraday bag/anti-rfid pouch? try putting fob in it and leaving in car and see if car sees the fob, might kick it into standby mode and save the battery. you'd just have to pull it out of the bag to start the car... not sure this will work at such close range, but likely. the bags are like 10 bucks, many to choose from. 2¢. if you really wanna keep your key in car.

Good idea. I will try removing it and if I fail, I like the backup plan.

I had to replace my battery within a year, but since has been holding.

Do you have comfort access enabled?
If keeping key nearby the car, there's way to disable key fob for comfort access, maybe try that? but not sure if that works when key is in the car and unlocked:




Press lock button and the unlock button together and keep both buttons pressed until the indicator light on the key lights up.

Otherwise my trunk would open 3-4 times while pressure washing.
