Key fob battery dead after 3 months?

Hi folks, key fob battery is playing balls.
Car is 3 months old and I have only done 700 miles. I get the message battery low, it needs to be replaced.
is this normal? I thought it was flashing red too much...I don't even know why it is flashing

Have you got Comfort Access and do you store your key close to the car?

I am sure I have read on here before of similar problems and that was the cause.

Key battery drain is a thing if the key is kept within 6 feet of the vehicle. My original fob battery lasted about 1 year. Second fob was only used a couple of times and was still good after ~2 years. (MY2021 4/21 production)

Thanks for your feedback. It make sense. Key is probably 4 feet near.
Metal box would be enough to stop the key communicating to the car? Need faraday box? Lead box? Gold box?

Just to confirm I replaced mine a few weeks ago after 9 months of use. Definitely the fastest replacement of a key battery I've done for a car. I place it in a Faraday box (cheap one off amazon) and it works since I've tested it. Not sure what impact it had on the car, but prior to using it I was leaving my key closeby to the garage. Although I don't always park it in there...

I'm contrast, mine is kept away from the car and doesn't have Comfort Access and is 2+ years in on original battery.

I have Comfort Access. In Faraday box and probably not close enough anyway. 17 months and counting.

I had an issue a couple of months ago..... Mine was at the 6 month point. Replaced the batter and still had the error message. It went away a couple of days later. There was discussion about this a while ago. Seems to be a glitch with some of us. Give it a few days and see what happens.

This got me thinking about how close the edge of our attached garage is to where I store my fobs in the mudroom ...
... I looked at the Amazon Faraday box one-star reviews, many of which included simple tests of placing a fob in one of those products then walking up to the vehicle, whoops!
So I built my own out of a small metal food storage container that had long since been consigned to Lego sorting duty. Had to add some alu foil to the plastic lid.
Walked up to my Taycan -- did not detect the fob. Popped the lid, and the door handles extended, nice!

I had a fob wallet a couple of feet from the Taycan that is supposed to be protective and, in fact, did seem to keep the car from being aware that the key was nearby. However, my battery just went south after only a few weeks. So I've now moved the key much further away and inside a metal drawer (plus the protective wallet). I'm sure the location was the problem.

I spoke to Customer care and I had the clear feeling they know it’s a common issue. I told them I am not going to change where I store the key and they offered to send me a faraday Box free of charge and they will send CR032 replacement as well…
They have also offered same day shipping and return of the Key, they would have had Main local dealer to replace the battery for me…( I declined since I thought it was totally unnecessary…)
So far my experience with Porsche sale and after sale has been better than expected…

Changed the battery of both keys, still get the message on the dash to replace key fob batteries… is there a way to reset the key or the dash to accept the battery has been replaced?

I didn’t have to do anything special. I just put my key fob in the cupholder after I replaced the battery and everything was fine after that.

Here again, battery replaced 8th of January.
Both Key Fobs dead this mornings…couldn’t even open the car…
