well maybe in Europe that feature doesn’t exist but here in the States it absolutely does
When they say can be locked and unlocked without a key they are talking about comfort access. However for lock they mean touching the sensor on the handle, not walk away automated locking.

Gentlemen & Ladies allow me to apologize for my mistake. I just realized that my Taycan doesn't lock when I walk away. I always assumed that when the door handles retracted that the car was locked. I assume this because the manual stated that the car could be locked and unlocked without using the key. I failed to read all the way through this chapter where it explains better that you still need to touch the door handle. Since my BMW with comfort access locks the car when I walk away I just assumed the Porsche did the same. So I was very surprised today when it was pointed out to me to read the ENTIRE procedure. My Bad. Please except my apology. I will say that Porsche didn't do a great job in the manual, it's somewhat misleading unless you read every word.

Thank you Claus, I now know I can use the app to open the car. From what I’ve read from Porsche the car should not lock but sometimes under certain conditions it will. Very poor engineering if you ask me. Thankfully I have the App. Normally this would not happen to me but accidents do occur.

So your car doesn't automatically lock? I have comfort access and if I walk away from the car it will lock on its own.
no, I have "comfort access" turned off intentionally, so I have to use the key fob to lock and unlock the car always

That is correct - just because the door handles retract doesn't mean the car is lock. You can still pull the door handles without a key to open the door with the door handles retracted. Most people assume they can't open the door with the door handles retracted, but you can just pull them out.

I know this because we don't lock our cars in our garage at home, and the Taycan remains unlocked until I touch the door handle or press the key fob.

Sorry but my J1.1 definitely locks when I walk away. It's also stated in the manual. I don't know where you're getting your information but m 2021 locks every time I walk away!
I owned a 2021 4S and a 2023 GTS ST with with comfort opening and neither had walk away locking - that's where.

Please share the owners manual entry to enlighten us.

Same in Europe and Rest of World.

Amazing how a simple thing like this can be misunderstood by many it would appear.
