I find it very hard to believe they'll be successful but I really hope I'm wrong.

I have so far found the Air to be too similar to the competition to stand out. I doubt it's range numbers stack up to real world use, literally every company exaggerates their EVs range, and it's stuck on the same charging network we're using.

With pricing looking to be around the Taycan, I don't see it. But I'd love to see them knock it out of the park.
IMHO: (Like Rivian) Range will be everything.

I view it that it will probably (if at all) be released to the uk in about 2-3 years time, which will be near the end of my PCP deal. I spoke to Lucid last week and this would be a conservative time span. I may put the refundable deposit down, then see how it looks then. Would be nice to be o e if the first if it does happen. Kinda liking that about the Taycan right now. But then there will be many more options I think - not saying I will change, as love the Taycan. But have you seen the Bollinger EV coming out in the USA? Now that would look smart in the UK!!!

I'm excited to see what the Bollinger will look like when they take it out of the box.

:)

Not very excited about any of the stuff released today. The configurator doesn't really seem to work on my phone so that's unnerving.

They REALLY seem to be banking on the extra range being worth.. uh.. everything. Outside of the range numbers the car seems pretty meh to me, just kind of ideas taken directly from stuff already on the market. Nothing very exciting.

It's priced pretty damn expensively for what it is, IMHO. Considering we've already seen lots of bugs, there is surely going to be (possibly staggering) build issues from a brand new US factory, and support is going to be extremely sparse.. I don't get it.

Thoughts? Anyone have some reasons I should be more optimistic?

ummmm - am I the only one that thinks it’s ugly as sin?

I mean - honestly $170k for that vs. 150k for Taycan - Porsche take my money!!!

300 miles in 20 minutes when connected to the DC fast chargers on the Electrify America network.
well we all know how well the EA network is working out for Porsche - Lucid’s all in them as well - wonder if they can get their charging sessions to work -

@Dave,

Honestly I think it's gorgeous. It's the first car my wife seems excited about. She wants to reserve one.

I was really impressed. Like I said earlier makes all luxury sedans seem outdated. Model S looks very boring after this.

I wouldn't say it's ugly as sin but I do think it has that "hey, look at my hipster EV" thing that Tesla's have while somehow still looking a little generic/soccer parent esque.

Just personal taste, though. I personally wouldn't buy one regardless of quality because of the looks (and I'm not rich enough to gamble money on a brand new auto maker's EV).

@manitou202 well I’ve been wrong before, often and on many topics....that’s why I asked

guess it’s just not my cup of tea - but I hope they succeed - EV‘s need more competition

It's definitely not a Porsche. But like I said, if I were in the market for an Audi A8, Mercedes S-Class, or BMW 7-series, the Lucid looks like 10 years ahead. Also makes a Model S seem very old and boring.

Clearly they are a startup and haven't proven themselves yet (and are relying on EA.....ugh) but they seem to have real potential. One of the most innovative cars I've seen in a while.

I find myself nonplussed by the exterior styling, but I give them high marks for caring about the interior. Their interior looks like it fits the price, unlike the Tesla. This might be a car to give the Mercedes S Class a run for its money.

I'm curious to see driving impressions of the car. It's clearly very fast, but it looks huge.

So, new company, but with some experience in Formula E so not a total unknown. But building a handful of power systems for a racing series is a different task than mass producing an automobile.

Of course, Peter Rawlinson has built a few cars in his time, so I at least believe that he fully understands the challenge ahead. It will be an interesting manufacturer to watch. 2021 is going to be a very exciting year in the EV space.

Getting too strong of a Buick Regal vibe from it. Not an inspiring exterior.

Great interior, looks like a Taycan on steroids. Exterior is a little strange. Looks big. Perhaps in the err "metal.." it might look quite good. If it were between that and a Model S it would win hands down.

I watched the reveal last night. Really excited to see this car actually come to fruition. I think if they can actually put out a car that accomplishes 70% of what they're claiming it will do it's going to be pretty incredible. Then again, I wouldn't be surprised if we see more delays before this car actually ends up in customer's driveways... Either way, the more EV's on the road the better!
