I'm probably in a minority here but man I hate the look of the rear plate mount/holder on the NA cars. I have a query in to Suncoast re ordering a Euro plate holder and then modifying to hold my TX plate - I'm doing that as a separate discussion on 3D printing also mentions the ugly plate holder and shows a Sedan with this thing removed - unfortunately it exposes two rather large holes which you'd need to cover up - hence the idea of the Euro plate.

Do any Cross Turismo owners know if these two holes are also present on the CT? If not then I have a solution and no need to cover up anything!

Curious if others have replaced the NA rear plate holder on the Cross Turismo?

The attach pics for ref re holes are from this thread:

How do you think this dude removed the monkey butt and avoided the holes? I agree with you that the NA plate holder is something we could all live without.

Good question - I wonder how much different each model year is for the sedan - and particularly if the CT has same or different config when NA holder removed.

@ciaranob I don’t know what the deal is with those big holes that look like they were dremeled out, but if you look at some of the parts diagrams, you can see them outlined. Perhaps they get punched out depending on which plate mounting bracket variant is getting added. Maybe some of the brackets plug/slot into them for support.

Some other non-US variants of the license plate bracket here:

Possibly a real simple fix might be to use one of these plate holders as long as it covers up the aforementioned holes - need to do some measuring :)! Do prefer the idea of getting the legit license plate mount though as I suspect this will look a lot cleaner.

US DOT standards.
Still using the US license plates in a US plate holder - simply replacing the base mount so shouldn't be an issue or at least I'd be highly surprised if you ever got pulled over for that! Fairly sure with a plate holder surround no-one would even realize the base mount was different ;)

99.9% chance nobody would ever getting cited for it. I would love a euro spec rear piece to delete those 'warts'

For what it's worth, those "monkey butt warts" do a great job of preventing low speed impact damage, as I found out in my parking garage. I suspect that's why they're required in North America.

Sorry, but just about the last thing in the world I’d be personally concerned about - appreciate the alternate perspective but we’re on different planets :)!

I believe that I learned this first hand: Strong Bumper!
Just to be clear no one is referencing the bumper here just the 1 ft + or so license plate mount - if you’re fortunate enough that you get hit in the very specific ‘warts’ on the plate then fair enough but the entire bumper assembly is a different discussion :)
