I knew that I could use Tom Tom in CarPlay simultaneously with PCM. Today I found out it also works with ABRP.

Enter a route in ABRP. Then push the blue pcm button. PCM navigation will show and can start navigation. When pushing the CarPlay button the central screen will switch back to ABRP the dashboard and HUD will continue with PCM.

This way navigation can be done with ABRP but it will still pre condition the battery with PCM navigation. And give the predicted range on arrival. Which is only accurate with active navigation.

Since a couple of weeks it is also possible to synchronize ABRP with Porsche app and it uses the current SoC and kWh/100 km. It was a bit delayed but worked. Still have to do a long trip to see how it works. Before this was only possible with Tronity.

ABRP navigation is quite nice. Shows the free chargers , soc on arrival kw of the charger.

negative point: when recalculating the route on ABRP it does stop PCM and has to be reentered.

Excuse my ignorance but I'm guessing this is with a paid ABRP subscription or does this work with the std free app service? Had not had a chance to test anything yet myself!

I have the paid one. Not very expensive. I don’t think the free one can be used with CarPlay and also can’t connect to Porsche for SoC etc. I use ABRP a lot and the subscription was worth it for me.

Can ABRP really read the SoC of the Taycan by now? I have been using PUMP with the disadvantage that it cannot connect to show the SoC. Maybe time to give it a try… or ask PUMP to level again ?

Yes it can. I have also used PUMP. It is quicker in calculating the route. And it was easier to changes chargers along the way.

Since a couple of weeks it is possible to connect the Porsche account to ABRP. It shows the current soc and the actual consumption. I used the free Tronity trial this summer but didn’t buy it. It worked but this is even better. And free with the subscription. With Tronity a subscription for both was needed.

this is really a step forward.

still have to try on a longer trip but around town it show the current soc in ABRP.

it shows the soc at arrival at the next stop and also charge kW, number and free chargers. PCM also does this but ABRP looks better and easier.

with pcm running in the back it should be possible te program the same charge stop and it will pre heat the batrert

Yes it works while pcm navi is active.

I'm a subscriber as well but no chance to connect ABRP to my Taycan turbo ct OTA. tried a few times to unlink and re-link. but no luck. It's authorised on porsche website but no chance. how did you do it? I also drove for >300 km in 2 segments. All I get is "registering"...

Without OTA, one needs to play around with "reference consumption" in settings, else the SOC will be wildly wrong.
ABRP is an interesting product, pity it has lotsa bugs in CarPlay (e.g., voice mute button does not work, settings button are often dead, etc.)

I just activated live data. I think it took some time to be come active. Maybe you have to wait a bit. I did use live data with a Tronity free trial but I don’t think this has something to do with it. Activation was similar. After selecting live data it goes to the Porsche site and ask to enter account and password.

WOW! Thanks for this heads up! It's been a long time since I used ABRP and I had no idea they had made this kind of progress! Going to subscribe now (you should get a commission from them hahaha)

Did some testing today. Trip to the sea. ABRP and PCM at the same time.

it took 5 minutes before ABRP was connected to Porsche. ABRP suggested a longer route with more highway but same time ad arrival. Soc ad arrival 43 %. PCM suggested a shorter route soc at arrival 53%. We followed ABRP with pcm in the background. PCM changed the route along the way. Final soc af arrival was 45%, with the longer route. ABRP was a bit conservative but accurate. Porsche too but 53 % was with the shorter route and I put on my winter tires last week, first longer drive.

ABRP was never correct with the current soc. It was 10 above, 5 below , always changing. Soc at arrival didn’t change however.

Innodrive was still active and was braking for roundabouts etc. Didn’t need preconditioning for charging.

on the way back ABRP never managed to connect to Porsche. We wanted to follow the PCM suggestion this time. ABRP navigation was accurate. Decrease of soc was accurate but it started at 45% which was the soc before charging at the location. The soc at arrival was spot an with pcm.

Travel time was exactly the same 1h11 minutes. But used battery was less. 92 vs 99 km and 24.1 vs 23.1 kWh/100 km. 21,3 kWh vs 23 kWh.

For this short test PCM is more accurate to find the most economic route. ABRP graphics are nicer. I also like the way ABRP shows the next charger. It shows a wheel with the number and free chargers and also the charger kw. PID was still functional so I presume preconditioning will also be active.

Concluding for now the connection is not stable enough to rely on ABRP only but it was accurate with soc at arrival.

Interesting that you have got both the PCM and ABRP active at the same time in the car. i have never been able to get both working on the car displays at the same time. Unless there has been a recent update in the phone or app that facilitates this. Will try it later I the week on a trip to Norway from Stockholm. Both have worked great, separately, in my experience, but never at the same time.

First start ABRP and then push the blue arrow for pcm navigation. Start in pcm and push the CarPlay button. The will both be active. If you recalculate in ABRP pcm will stop. But for now they were both active for an hour.

Does this mean that one can use Waze and PCM nav together?
What I have noticed that using Waze immediately turns of PCM navigation.

Is there any way to make both work simultaneously?

I was able to do this with Tom Tom and PCM. Also worked in my BMW. I tried with ABRP last week and it worked too. Google, Apple and Waze didn’t and switched PCM navigation off. Will give it a try with Waze.

Update
PCM works with ABRP, Apple Maps and Tom Tom.

Navigation with Google maps and Waze doesn’t work. For Waze the route is deleted for Google the route is paused and can be restarted.

the reason why they are stopped was also clear at one time Waze and Apple Maps were navigating together. Quite annoying. Waze one the screen but Apple in the back still giving messages.

ABRP is what is says on the tin: a route planner. Decent overview of charging stations and alternatives along routes. The rest is garbage, live data from Porsche, SOC estimates, UX/UI (ugly AF), CarPlay integration etc. all peppered with countless bugs :)

I’m still subscribed for sentimental reasons : it reminds me of the days of ISDN modems, Netscape and then Napster.
