MY24 ST GTS

Well after a short(ish) stint with 2 Taycan's, I have today sold my beloved ST GTS. This has been the best car I have sat in let alone owned. It has filled me with joy every second. My previous CT4 was nice, but changing to the ST GTS in May 2024 was just a brilliant decision.

I only had the CT4 6 months when Man Maths got me thinking about a GTS. Ended up with an amazing 5 month old demo at 42% off RRP and the following 10.5 months have been an absolute joy.

What made me change is I realised between me and the mrs we needed a bigger 4x4 (rural living) and I decided to be the one to get one. I also started to get a little nervous coming to speed bumps and the many new potholes that appeared so made the decision. I have decided to go for an RRS PHEV (fingers crossed a problem free build) but still wasn't certain. I advertised my car on carwow last wednesday and it hit reserve - I didn't think it would just because of the volatility and it was a bit of water testing so when it did i was both shocked and horrified lol. Some real soul searching but its been collected today. The whole week has been horrible and I've been in 'I've made a mistake' mindset for days but its now done. Seeing the car being driven away was so so sad.

It's cost me an arm and a leg in monthlies (damn you porsche interest rates) but I've broken even sort of (well, got back the cash i put in when traded my CT4) so all is good. However, its cost me a hell of a lot when I take into account how much I put into the CT4 and how little I've come out with - but you know what, I don't care (well I do, but you get me). It's been money well spent and a proud time for me

This has been/is a great forum with a LOT of great info and I'm glad I found it. I will always have a soft spot for these cars - my first ever Porsche (and shorly followed by second!) - a dream I've had since been about 5yrs old. A final pic of the car washed and prepped this morning :(

I will be back in full electric at some point (actually have a Renault 5 on test in a weeks time for a week) but won't ever forget my wonderful Ice Grey ST GTS. Enjoy what you have while you have it :)

The GTS ST will go down in history as an enthusiast Porsche. 10 years later you'll see one and miss it! Unfortunately for EVs ownership it's like owning a smartphone, no matter how modern it is at the time, it won't age we'll 2-3 generations later.

It's a shame bc I would love to keep my Taycan GTS ST forever like my GT3.

I chose a cross turismo for the extra suspension travel for farm tracks etc.
I am psychologically incapable of spending money on a SUV having spent my entire working life trying to make cars as light and aerodynamically efficient as possible!

Sad to see you leaving Taycan ownership Paul. We both got our CT4's at a very similar time. Glad you have good memories of the car. You never know, you may come back to a Taycan one day. Still loving mine.

Enjoy the RRS. All the best.

That's the reason I originally chose the CT4 too and it did a great job.

I do get you though re efficient vehicles and that. The rrs phev is nearly 3 ton which is crazy.

Thanks Mark. Hope youre still enjoying yours.

Yes the memories will stay and I won't have a bad one at all. Wonderful machines. Maybe one day definitely (when they improve the latest light design hehe)

Yes, still love my car. Still enjoy jumping in it even if it is just a trip to the local shops.

Maybe he will stick around?

I sold my Taycan last November, but still frequent this place, as it has the best forum membership imo and I can't kick the habit. ?

I'm not so sure about that. I expect an industry to emerge refurbishing the batteries and potentially motors in EVs over the next 10 years. Unless the manufacturers do something to block that industry. That in turn seems difficult for them to do because EVs good for the environment...unless you scrap and re-create them constantly??

Exactly. I see no reason why a whole industry won't grow up to rebuild and/or update batteries in the same way piston engines can be rebuilt and tuned.
If I was starting out in the business that is what I would probably do.

Hmm it's not looking that way. Today, would you own an EV that's pre-2019 for the next 5 years?

I can easily count multiple pre-2019 ICE cars that would own for the next 10+ years.
