And the top things I learned on Day 1 is that the base sound system is rubbish
Just goes to show internet forums are not a place to get facts ;)

When I ordered mine neither Bose nor Burmester were available due to component shortage and due to being a music lover, and having a home audio system more expensive than the Taycan, I thought it may be a deal breaker based on internet "knowledge".

My dealer arranged for me to compare the Bose and standard systems and I found the standard system fine, with low colouration and an even frequency response. The Bose sounded slightly harsher, in fact, but had far more adjustments including a DSP surround.

So if you want effects or like to adjust a system to sound like a boom box (and a LOT of people do, based on car audio I've heard) Bose offers more potential.

If you listen to music and voice and prefer an accurate sound the standard system isn't bad at all so I went ahead and 2 ½ years later it is not a regret.

The only downside is all the internet false (IMO) info will perhaps make it harder to sell.

For me, I try to buy things I never plan to sell. Some people replace cars like they replace cell phones… Every year or two on lease.
I never lease anymore unless it is strictly a business vehicle. I buy outright every vehicle I fall in love with like my 2021 Taycan which I bought after my 2000 Boxster, triple black with 21” wheels got T-boned in 2021 with only 42K miles on it. She was perfect. Not a ding or a scratch inside or outside.
Since the Taycan doesn’t have great range I still have a spot in my garage for a Taycan, 911 or Boxster ICE or worst case hybrid Taycan, 911 or Boxster if they decide to make them.
Until then my Taycan love affair will continue….

I am the same, I take a long time to decide then keep the car a long time. This technique has only failed me once, and that was partly following other people's advice rather than deciding on my own!
I had intended to sell my Prius but kept it because of all the reliability horror stories and do still use it because its width makes it better for some things.

I am the same...for 60 years, I have bought used vehicles and kept them for at least 10 years.
Until about 15 years ago it was Mercedes Diesels, and since then it has been Porsches.
Currently i have put 100k miles on my '09 997.2 S, similarly a 2012 Cayenne, and now 4.5 years on a Taycan 4S. Despite the fact that it was one of the early Taycans out of the factory, I have had zero problems with it, save those of my own making. As I turn 80, I will have to adjust my 10 year planning, and trade one of them for a Cayman E when it arrives.

Like you, I have an elaborate home audio system(16 channel Dolby Atmos/Wilson/Mac) and really appreciate the Burmester system in my Taycan 4S. I was very pleased to hear that the new Taycans will have Dolby Atmos capable audio.

The best defense against depreciation is to buy once & buy right. The Taycan was an easy choice as a keeper since I don’t drive very many miles locally. It is a pure luxury for whatever miles I do get to drive her. She’s worth it! She doesn’t age but I certainly do…

For me, I hate selling things so I will let my wife sell my stuff when I’m gone. I’ll roll over in my grave if I can see her giving away all my things at bargain prices. That would be my hell.

An even better defence against depreciation is to buy used - let someone else take the initial hit. Admittedly you can't pick and choose options but there are bargains to be had.

Buying used is for sure the way to go especially for Taycans. If you have a few months of patience, often times you CAN pick and choose your exact spec! That's what I did!! And even got a couple cool ones I wouldn't have paid for!!

I usually do buy CPO’s too…. I could care less if the car has a few miles on it.
When I was in college I had a job as a car salesman for Chevrolet Buick Nissan dealer.
The sales training company expert would tell us most people will come in with a list of things they absolutely must have but the salesman must leverage the customers desire to get their chosen one asap vs placing an order which most usually don’t like doing.
Even when someone comes in wanting only black there is a high probability they will change their mind so they can drive their not black dream car out the door that day.
He was right. Out of all 9 vehicles I’ve purchased in my life only 2 were black. I went in with black as my color and walked out the other 7 times with something else.
The right test drive on a beautiful weekend day makes it very hard not to fall in love with a new or CPO vehicle.
With Taycan, color became pretty much irrelevant. We wanted to wait until a black one came along but we were about to leave the dealership and my wife & I couldn’t. We had to take one we decided we liked enough to test drive home.
Now she will grow old with us…

My CPO was 1 year old with 128 miles on it :like:. The only things I'd change if I'd specified it myself would have been Cherry red instead of Gentian and adding Burmester.

Curious, did you join the forum/Facebook groups BEFORE you ordered your vehicle? I did. And the top things I learned on Day 1 is that the base sound system is rubbish, and the PB+ is the best option you can invest in.
I learned all of those things as well, plus the fact that the glass roof is an absolute must-have because it makes the interior feel much more spacious.

By the time I finalized my spec, though, I remembered that they are called "options" for a reason, and the things that are important to me are not necessarily what are important to you. I ended up getting the base sound system, the smaller battery, and the metal roof, and if I had it to do all over again, I would make the exact same choices.

What I eventually did was to roleplay devil's advocate with myself for every single choice. If I could not articulate specifically why I wanted A instead of B, and especially if I had to rely on "the reviews on the internets said that A is a must-have", I went with the cheaper option and told myself that "foregoing A means I can afford C".

The main point I want to make is that I don't think anybody should feel bad about swimming against the current of popularity with the choices they make about their vehicle. The ability to personalize so much is a large part of the Porsche experience, at least for me.

You are correct!
No matter how anyone decides to outfit their Taycan you can’t get around the idea of owning one of these super models is life changing. It’s like choosing between supermodels. Does it really matter what her finger nail color is or if she’s a gorgeous blond, brunette or redhead. They are all stunning and anyone that gets to have one in their life is very lucky…

On a RWD the 19" Aeros are unfairly hated. They look good with that blue. The tall sidewalls look great (see Ferrari 246 Dino). The steering feels more nimble at low speeds vs 21s. The wheels are lighter and more efficient. Replacement tires are considerably less expensive and don't seem to wear unevenly like some 21s.
I have my winter tires mounted on 19” Aeros, summers on 21”. I changed back over to the summers last weekend and as I did so I was surprised how much lighter the 21” wheel & tire combo is. I didn’t weigh it, but it’s quite noticeable in hand. I doubt the difference is down to snow vs summer tires either.

That said, the 19s are noticeably quieter and more comfortable.

The only option I wish I could get rid of is the glass roof in my 2021.
It was nice initially but the fact their is no automatic shade for those many bright hot sunny days in Southern California, I installed a removable sun shade which I never remove. It lets in enough light but blocks 90% of the heat. I wish there would be a carbon fiber option if my glass ever cracks so I could get rid of the glass once & for all.
For me the glass was a big swing & miss…
I have the glass roof in Arizona. No heat or sun issues. Then again, I have the acoustic and IR glass. Maybe that’s why it doesn’t bother me. Love the glass roof.
