About passenger display I’d imagine so but it is the option my wife wants, so it is a must. Think about it like a key to unlock all the other options I want.
90% of the time I am driving, my wife is the passenger. I am confident that you will find the passenger display to be a useful option. It facilitates using the navigation system. It frees up the center screen for other features - either entertainment or vehicle status and trip data. We especially like using the map in the center instrument cluster for next turn guidance and the passenger screen for an overview of the route and charging stops.

Like all Porsche options the cost of the passenger display is twice as much as its intrinsic value. The next car I order will include the passenger display if one is available.

Ice Grey and my favourite Crayon can look like the cars have left the factory with just the undercoat in certain light.
Other times they can look SMOKIN hot.

Crayon just edges it for me as Ice sometimes looks white and I think…..
‘I could have had that for free!’

Popped into dealership on way back from tip! Easter clear out!

Took some photos for you of the 3 Ice cars!

Your CT (4S and BIG wheels!) outside
New 2WD inside with £30k extras!!!!!
Love dealer spec.
2nd hand Turbo. All so different in different light!

Trust me they are all Ice!
Crayon next to Ice for final comparison!

You can use the centre and right tubes in the cockpit display to do just that.

Again I think the PD is superfluous but personal choice.

Hi all, after days of reading & thinking I’ve ordered a ST RWD. My dealer in the UK had 2 new cars ready for June but I want my custom build so I’ll be waiting probably until Q3 this year.

Here is my build: http://www.porsche-code.com/PNSHXZN5

The reason I went for ST RWD over CT4 is that I don’t want to wait the long queue for the CT4, which is estimated for Q1 next year. Otherwise I guess I like the looks of CT even better.

I currently own a Tesla M3 and this will be my first ever Porsche. I know I am sacrificing performance but Porsche is a childhood dream for me so I don’t really care much :)

So in the end I’ll be paying over 18k for the options in a base model. This is literally 25% of the car’s actual price. I am not buying this car to sell soon, but tell me please, am I overdoing it? How is Porsche market in general? What’s the usual common sense in this? Is it too much to add options worth 1/4 of a base car’s actual value.

And not to mention I’m still eyeing truffle interior + sports sound + chrono so it can go even up. It is dangerously endless :)

Ice grey metallic
I was getting a Frozen Blue, wasn’t even thinking about ice grey but then one day I saw this live on the road and that was it. Beautiful - case closed :)

Air Suspension
I am still in between. If the ride is more comfortable I’ll take it, but if it is only for adjusting the ride height then I don’t think I’m keen.

Noise Insulated Glass with Privacy
Coming from Model 3, I know how noisy it can get inside an EV, ironically because it is too quiet so it lets everything in. The music quality deteriorates and we have to speak in higher tones inside the cabin to hear each other. That’s one thing I really don’t like about Model 3 so that’s why I’m opting this option. I don’t want a noisy cabin.

Black partial leather with colour matching trim and Aluminium accents
I think I like partial leather enough. Accent package and aluminium to spice things up in a cost effective way.
Surround View
I heard the rear camera is poor, so opted in for surround view.

Folding & dimming mirrors
These should be standard in any car above 30k

Black exterior trims
Door handles and model designation because it looks cool and feels more customised :)

Driver memory package
Just got it for the curb side assistance. Still thinking about 14 way seats instead.

ACC
For long trips I might use it, and it future proofs the car to some extent for other updates.

Passenger Display, Performance Battery and Glass Roof
Wife approval factor
Air suspension is awesome and ride quality excellent - and useful for driveways - it's one of the clear "wins" moving from the awful Model 3 factory suspension - 100% option it

Noise glass - I'm a big fan - but the Taycan is already next level quiet vs. a Model 3 - but this pushes it even further

I'd go full leather - but it's not my money

Surround view is nice - even though the camera is weird - it still provide individual views from all the camera and is very useful sometimes to switch to a particluar camera view while parking or tight maneuvering

Folding and dimming mirrors - great

if you're considering the 14 way seats also check the massage option - my wife and I love it, so much so it's become part of our other porsche builds

ACC and ALK - yes - makes the car better for longer drives - but no where near Tesla's autopilot

Passenger display- mostly useless, sometimes useful on longer trips - but wife prefers it to some random piece of interior trim that you'd be staring at instead - we miss it on our Cayenne.

I'm a former 2018 Model 3 performance owner (and 5 other Teslas since 2013) - really like the Model 3 for it's price point and EV'ness - but have moved on to the Taycan to get more "car'ness" - one of the main benefits of Porsche is the set of options (that should be standard) and while they charge for it/them - few if any make the vehicle worse and in the end it allows you to get a vehicle (for a price) that is much much nicer than a Model 3 - I personally don't see the point of a "stripper" Taycan that isn't much nicer than a Model 3 for 2x the price…but my air suspension, rws, massage seats and full leather interior are worlds better than my Model 3, but I had to pay for it.

I lvoe my power charge port doors because they autoclose - Tesla's all have this - so it will be a bit of a let down to not have this on a "better" vehicle.

If "wife approval factor" that important, add massage seats. She will love you more.

This is very useful thanks! It is unbelievable how the ice grey is equally pale and glossy in different lights. Makes me reconsider my choice. Especially the middle photo is just white. But it is beautiful in the first and last photos. Tough choice, I guess I still have some time to decide. I’ll pop into a dealer before my lock date and see them live again.

I also think Ice Grey looks better on a ST than a CT. I like Crayon on a CT for its added ruggedness.

Great to see a real life comparison vs model 3. My concern is that Taycan without noise insulated glasses would be as noisy as a model 3 interior in highway speeds as they are both “quiet” cars.

It is important, and I am not a massage fan but equally my wife loves it. She said there is no need for massage seats but having read such positive reviews I think she would like it. Perhaps it is worth the trade off vs noise insulated glasses.

while I personally abhor removing any Porsche option - this is a very very reasonable swap.

If resale value is a concern, then 25% is too high. As much as we love every detail of the options on our cars, the car will primarily be valued based on year, model, miles and condition. 15% options is pretty safe…beyond that is high risk for loss.

Not everyone cares about the loss but for those who do, you make want to use some restraint in ticking boxes.

I am coming from a Tesla M3P as well. I test drove the standard RWD and 4SCT (no ST’s available yet) and whilst the 4S had considerable power it was a bit lost on me as I tend to drive only in town. And for me - and I am no car expert - the RWD felt more like a point and shoot type car - similar in nimbleness to a new style MINI which surprised me given the Taycan is such a big car. The reviews are also very good on the RWD and I preferred the look of the ST.
I have over egged the options a bit but I will keep it for 5 years. I have gone for chrono, 18 way seats, air, RWS and pano roof and some decent alloys along with some other trinkets. I think from there on in it’s all very personal.
Just enjoy it when it arrives and the build up!
Interesting about wait times. I ordered mid Feb 22 in UK I anticipate September for delivery. We will see!

I don't disagree with much that you post, so I am assuming my description was not clear. With the small map in the center cockpit "tube", an overview nav screen with charging destination info in the passenger display, vehicle info and trip data in the center display, there is little that can be displayed in the right cockpit tube without it being constantly overridden by the next navigation instruction. The right tube is more useful when navigation is not in use.

Having the passenger display makes it easier for a co-pilot to help make routing decisions.

I do agree that the passenger display is useless when driving alone. But that is rarely the case for me and my wife.

Enjoy your ST!

I was given a similar build time with my ST RWD order too.
CT will take slightly longer though. It makes sense as the CT is almost a year old variant whereas ST is relatively new.

Do you also feel that Model 3 is extremely noisy in highway speeds? Have you opted in for insulated glass in Taycan?

The M3P does have quite a bit of wind noise. Prompted by your observations may look at the insulated glass!

" I do agree that the passenger display is useless when driving alone "
FYI: the passenger display will not go on unless a person is sitting in that seat.
