Please take a look through my thoughts. I read to page 20 of the general forum and picked up some great info, but I want a double check, and to check if there are any other secrets. Thank you!

Taycan 4S
- I dislike side view of the CT.
- CT has 20cm default (up to 30cm) higher ride hight, same minimum as non-CT.
- CT has more headroom for rear passengers.
- Prefer wheel options on CT.
- Want all wheel drive.
- No intention to drive on track.
Mamba Green
19" wheels
- Larger wheels require brakes upgrade, ~$8k increase for both
- Even in a track setting, battery overheats before brakes do, and base brakes stop just as well.
Wheel center caps with Porsche crest (looks great in person), small eye catching detail.
All-Season tires for delivery on default wheels
- Default summer tires, only good above 45F
- Can get custom aftermarket rims with summer tires with $8k savings from skipping 21”.
Black leather interior (maybe grey?)
- Decided against Olea leather. Dealership had no olea samples, but pointed out that the additional charge also includes more leather on the interior. I consider the non-olea front seat backs in plastic a better option for kids in car seats.
18 point seats
- 14 point has massage, but 18 point more comfortable. Both have ventilation.
- Ventilation pulls air down into seat and out, not "air-hockey"
NO deviated leather
- I don't like the look of the white leather with the ventilation holes.
- Non-white neutral colors don't have enough contrast to be worth $2,080.
NO deviated stitching
- Don't like the connect-the-dots look
NO Premium package
- Decided to skip this package b/c glass roof, thus making metal roof a $800 option. Glass has more headroom for rear passengers, less for front passengers?
Performance Package
- Don't care about Electric Sport Sound gimmick, but package saves add'l money, so this is "free."
- Want Torque Vectoring Plus
- Dynamic Chassis Control fun for daily drives, but really shines for track
- Sport Chrono Package - Additional mode "Sport+", select from steering wheel. Dislike the rivets on GT wheel, but want the add'l switches and buttons, wide grips. Sub-second clock not worth $1,120. White dial not worth $420.
Power Folding Mirrors
- Option to auto-fold mirrors on lock found in settings.
Exterior Mirror Lower trim in Exterior color
NO Window trim in High Gloss Black
- $400 option, easier to wrap silver in black than opposite.
NO under door puddle lights
- Wiring harness is included either way, cheaper aftermarket.
- OEM design is "PORSCHE" and that's lame.
NO door badges
Badge delete of model name on rear
-No special order customization of decals available.
LED Matrix PDLS+ lights
- Color change to blue from default frost not worth $850
NO change on Rear Light Strip w/ "PORSCHE"
- Internet doesn't like blue/black options because changes background to silver. Not worth $580 charge to change color from default frost.
NO Thermal/Noise glass
- Going to tint anyway for color/privacy
- Window thicker, interferes with tint when rolling down.
- Severely limits all frequencies - cell, GPS, toll boxes, gates, radar detector
NO HUD
- Doesn't work with polarized sunglasses
- Doesn't work with CarPlay (could be changed in FoD update?)
- If using CarPlay, doesn't show anything not available in dash screen behind wheel.
Night Vision
- If it works a single time it's worth the cost.
Lane Change Assist
- Is this part of Adaptive Cruise Control?
Surround View
- Standard backup camera better, can this be switched?
NO Active Parking Support
- Called "slow and uselss", no way to disable, have to fight/ignore every time.
NO Technology Package
- Don't want to pay for HUD, see above
- Don't want to pay for Passenger Display - doesn't support CarPlay (future FoD?)
Adaptive Cruise Control
- Great for gridlock and staying closer to speed limit.
NO InnoDrive
- "nanny" system. Can disable or adjust speed limit sign scanning, but still gets confused at exits, turns, and angled signs.
- "opposite of driving", "buy something else if you need this"
NO 4-zone climate
- Looks fun, but how often will I have passengers? And does a few degrees matter for the kids?
NO 2+1 seats
- Third belt looks dumb and crowded. Third “seat“ uncomfortable. No leg room.
- Can get $250 Ski Package to get 40:20:40 seats.
NO Ionizer
- EPA says this helps slightly with smoke particles, but is nonsense otherwise.
NO seat heating
Seat Ventilation
-OMG yes
NO massage
- Not available for 18 point seats, prefer constant increase in comfort over intermittent increase.
Heated Steering Wheel
Storage Package
- Internet seems to be divided. Opted in favor for front center console storage for sunglasses, phone not in center compartment. Small tray in rear floor if no 4+1 seats.
Interior Accents in Exterior Color
Vehicle keys painted
- Overpriced at $540, but makes me smile.
Fire extinguisher
NO seatbelt change - black interior needs black belts. Other colors very muted.
Ski bag
- Adds 40:20:40 seat without 3rd seatbelt
- Sell bag
Smoking package
- No longer adds extra cigarette lighter port, but $0.
- Visually fills extra cup holder, sell if useless.
Internet really likes extending the amount of leather, not sure worth $4k
Aftermarket floor mats
Interior Trim in Aluminum
- Offsets black leather nicely
Black aluminum door sills, $0
- Like the illuminated but wiring harness is included either way, cheaper aftermarket.
NO passengers display, see above
BOSE
- Burmester too big for car, only excels at FLAC classical music, can't tell for pop music or mp3s.
NO power charge cover
- flakey behavior
- Blocks air curtain from front vents, changes aerodynamics, CoF +0.02.
400V DC charger
NO intelligent range monitor
- dumb and handicapped, apps better: see - "A Better Route Planner" and "The Plug Share."
NO Porsche charging options (MCC, MCC+, dock)
- non-OEM options cheaper.
Porsche Experience Center delivery, LA
- Lunch provided
- Private delivery experience (COVID?)
- 90 min instructor(?) track time in not-your-Porsche but similar (use their tires to learn car)
- Guest option? Second ticket?

Custom plate
Kid car seats and seat protector
- maybe not; Wife has family car
Radar detector
- Have Dealer install to not void warranty?, ~$2k
Dash Camera
- Have Dealer install to not void warranty?, ~$2k
PPF Wrap
- Done in LA before drive home?
- Have Porsche do it? Local dealer doesn't want to do whole car b/c time involved.
Ceramic coating
- Including underbody, wheels, wells
- Have Porsche do it?
Ceramic window tint
- Current car has legal+1, Porsche want legal+2
Floor mats (non-OEM)
Home supercharger (non-OEM)
EU side markers are not amber
- Can order from Suncoast, or dealer can order for $200.
EU visors don't have airbag warnings
- Dealer wasn't sure, said thinks they still do
Trunk liner in rubber (non-OEM)
Matte table screen protector for center screen
Aftermarket P&P module for lowering
- https://www.active-sound.eu/en/pors...ion-control-porsche-taycan-9j1-air-suspension
Mount for phone on center console
- https://www.proclipusa.com/product/855613-console-mount?sSearch=855613

PPF on whole car? Done in LA after pickup before drive home?
When huge decorative decal? Before or After PPF/Ceramic?
What happens when too low to tow? Is lowest setting too low? Is P&P too low?
Exciting LED Ambient lighting is standard, or needs an option selected?

Experience Center is well worth it. I did mine in Atlanta when I picked up my Boxster (and it was still a $0 option!). In addition to the great track experience, the whole day they treated me like I was Henry Kissinger.

Or something. You know what I mean.

I don’t know what others have experienced, but my dealer is sorta discouraging customers building Taycans right now due to “supply chain issues (“the chip shortage”). The sales manager said they’ve had a number of orders come back with Porsche saying that they can’t build certain options right now. Or maybe they just wanted me to buy something off the rack.

Home supercharger? WTF are you installing?

Standard.
Good call on the 20”, thanks
Seat heating says front and rear, didn’t see that front was included. Rear heating needs 4+1 option? Description unclear.
“Mobile Charge Connect” is a $1,120 checkbox. What is standard?
Charger, not supercharger then, my bad.

thanks!

How long were you at the PEC?

Thanks for the heads up. The rep I spoke to said something about “getting an available slot next month” but nothing on chips, though the online configurator has a new pop up in the last few days about them.

Mobile Charger Plus (9.6kW, no touch panel, no WiFi).

Depending on market heated front seats are standard, rear are extra and I don't think there is a dependency for 4+1.

It’s not just 20”. There are are two 21” that also do not require brake upgrades. It’s just the Mission E wheels that require brake upgrades. I went with 20” sport aero myself.

Check the list of standard options. There’s a link for standard equipment at the bottom of the configurator. That’s where you’ll see front seat heating, ambient lighting, and (Porsche) Mobile Charger Plus (PMC+).

The charger the have in the config is the (Porsche) Mobile Charger Connect (PMCC). They got charge at the same rate. The PMCC has extra settings and features. IMO, PMCC is not worth the cost. There are other 3rd party EVSEs with features at a lower cost. And you lose the PMC+ when you select PMCC, so the cost for PMCC is just to upgrade to those features.

I saw super charger and thought, “I’m going over to this dude’s house to charge...” ?

Dunno why you would get silver window surrounds and wrap them rather than just getting the black ones, it's hardly a lot of money.

Ambient lighting is an option that you need to select if you want it. The fire extinguisher is pointless, don't bother with it. If an EV catches fire you should get as far away from it as possible.

The built-in route planner is much better than ABRP for calculating range.

Oh yes, thanks. I shouldn't have assumed on the wheels; they should be listed in a different order haha.

I'll take a look at standard features, thanks.

Because I can't decide which I want. Going with the cheaper option, which is also the easiest to change.

This is opposite of the comment above you.

Excellent point! But I'd rather have it than not.

For $300, I'll get it. Thanks.

I was there pretty much the entire day. My driver gave me a tour of the PEC, I got a private guided tour of the museum space (including getting to spend as long as I wanted with the Archivist), then the delivery/reveal of my car, 90 minutes on the track (not in my car but in a similar 718), lunch and then pursuing the gift shop & general wandering around before getting on the road.

Would you pay $600 for that experience? That's the PEC delivery option price for a Taycan

I don’t know the current cost of 90 minutes of track time. Subtract that and the $100 restaurant credit from the $600 to decide if the difference is worth being treated like a visiting head of state for the day, the individual guided tour, the delivery/reveal of your car & the serialized PEC windshield sticker.

Had I ended up ordering vs buying off the rack, I probably would’ve clicked the box.
