Same in Belgium, some roads are tough for the 21'rims. I find myself often looking more at the potholes than the traffic and had to brake harder than liked more than once too avoid any damage to the tires.

Plenty in North West London as well. Both front 21' tyres got "bubbles" from potholes & had to get them changed. Thankfully have tyre insurance.
Can claim from council & use fixmystreet.com as tool to claim & register potholes for other drivers. Councils seem to act faster as they know that if claimed & is on the website, they have to pay.

I didn't know you could claim from the council. Learn something new every day.
I think this is still the case....

The council need to be aware of it before you claim.

You can't be the first complainant when claiming, as they had no prior knowledge there was an issue and therfore couldn't be expected to fix it.

I currently have an ongoing claim with the local council for a front tyre. I never thought i'd say this but I'm glad it was run-flat. A pothole sliced right through the sidewall. Would have been an instant deflation otherwise on a 50mph road

Similar issues in Cambridge. In January, I went over a huge pothole hidden by water whilst only doing 30mph, and it resulted in needing a new wheel. Cost over £2k to get it fixed and I was without a car for two weeks. The council fixed the hole about four weeks later, but it's now already back in a worse state than before. Very reflective of our government, that everything they touch makes it worse.

They're due to come back to me by the end of May regarding my claim.

It is the council not the government who have to take care of the potholes. Councils are very happy to penalise motorist's with minor infringements & not take care of what is needed!

On vacation in Kent (Eastbourne and Brighton) and the roads are dreadful. Potholes everywhere. With this rain from the last days you have to be extra careful, because you can’t distinguish a hole from a puddle. Constantly zigzagging and no time to look at the scenery. When you talk with the resident they react resigned as if this is the fate of England… Long live the Dutch roads, didn’t realize the quality until now.
