Hello! I have a nuance question about the operation of the programmable diamond button. I have programmed the button on the dash to operate my garage. When I back out of the garage, I cannot close the garage door until I put the car in park.
When retuning home, I can push the diamond button and then touch the screen to open the garage door while still in forward. My dealer is clueless about this. It would take an owner to help.
Thank you

The parking camera view is physically covering the Homelink interface.

I think there’s an X in the upper corner to close the camera view.

Do you have homelink? If so then you don't need to waste one of the diamond buttons to open - it is geo location enabled and will auto open. Closing not possible this way.

Thank you for the response. I may not have clear.
My concern is that when I back out of my garage, I must put the car in park to utilize the diamond button. Is this normal?

No. I use the diamond button for my garage and hit it while I’m driving. I don’t have a remedy for you but hopefully it helps to know that others do not need to be in park for it to operate.

I have programmed the Diamond on the steering column for homelink. This works to open and close the garage door while moving or stationary. The key is VERY sensitive. If you push it to hard it sends out 2 signals and the garage starts opening and then stops. But it works extremely well.

The key on the dashboard it touch screen and may need to wait for the system to complete booting up before operational.

You need to waste the diamond button to open the garage door? Is there no separate button on the rear view mirror like in other vehicles??!?

What do you mean you must put the car in park to utilize it? What happens when you press it when not in park?
In these instances more information will be helpful.

But no, like others have said, that button will work regardless what gear you're in.
I would also recommend setting up a geolocation tag so it will automatically trigger. I dont even use the buttons anymore. Search for Paul Steinbruner on youtube, he has an excellent video on how to set this up.

Nope. Also no dedicated track forward or back button on the steering wheel (so there goes the diamond button on the wheel)

You are correct. There is no button on the rear view mirror or anywhere else that is dedicated to home link. Your only other option is to use the touch screen. Once you have programmed the location into the memory, when you reach home the screen will change to the home link menu and you can open and close it that way. After doing that for a few days, I gave up and just programmed the diamond key on the steering wheel and now it work like the buttons on the rearview mirror on other cars.

Just another Taycan PCS quirk, I am afraid,

No you don't if you have Homelink but this is not standard in all markets.
But, even with Homelink, you'll have to drill down to the Homelink screen to press the button to send the signal right? So, if you want to mimic the old fashion button below the rearview mirror, you'd need to program the diamond button. They should give us a shortcut on the home screen to make a single press for commonly used options.

No, once programmed (stores geo location) it will automatically pop up and ask what you want to do.

Similar to Smart Lift (with air suspension only).

After I programmed the diamond button on the steering wheel, all I need to do is push the diamond button and the garage door will open or close....just like the buttons on the rear view mirror on other cars. No need to go through screens
