Hi All,

I am new to this forum so hello to all!

So the reason for my post is that I need some advice on how salary sacrifice works when purchasing a Taycan 4S. I am new to all this so a little confused.

I am currently getting quotes between £750-£900 for Taycan 4S. Standard specification and nothing extraordinary. Maybe an upgrade to the wheels. This is based on an 80k salary.

My Questions:
-What salsac website did you use and what was your quotation? Would you use them again?
- What is the approx. waiting time for a Taycan? heard it's ridiculous?! Would it better getting another make/model due to this?
-Will I be paying less that the quotes above once the reduction comes out of my payslip with me paying less tax now?
-If i choose a 3yr term, how does this work if i move jobs? Will i need to pay a early termination fee?

Can't answer all of your questions but wait times are long and not exaggerated. Allocations are dealer specific and are limited per model variant.

Unless you get a cancelled allocation then don't expect a car this year and for most variants it will be late 2023 if at all.

Paying a deposit means nothing so until you have an allocation you can't calculate a delivery window.

Example would be my order for a GTS ST - deposit paid last September (before launch), confirmed November 2021 (launch), still waiting on an allocation to secure car for November 2022.

Not all companies offer salary sacrifice.

Just be careful that you understand the full long term costs of salary sacrifice, particularly where pensions and taxation are involved. The companies involved won’t volunteer this information and the hidden costs can be eye watering. It might not affect you at all, but for some, it can massively increase costs if they use salary sacrifice

Could someone explain how salary sacrifice works? In the U.S. it generally means the extra cost of having an additional child. :(

I SS with Octopus

1. That £900 quote goes up very fast once you option which you will have to do.
2. Octopus leasing wait 70 weeks when I spoke to them 2 months ago when they came in and set up a marketing desk on the trading floor (I was lucky and got my RWD Taycan in early Jan).
3. That quote must be post tax. You absolutely save on tax. I ditched a 50k PCP Beamer for a 100K Taycan with 10k p.a. tax going to the Porsche lease instead of the criminals running this country.
4. Can't speak for Salsac but Octopus said if you lose your job you can just give the car back.
4. I chose 4 yrs. You want a Taycan for as LONG as possible. It's also cheaper PM if you do.

What is electric car salary sacrifice?

An electric vehicle salary sacrifice scheme lets an employee pay for an electric car each month using their gross salary – that’s before tax and other contributions are deducted. It’s the same as other salary sacrifice schemes, such as childcare, cycle to work schemes or pension contributions.

Unlike some other benefits that you might take through salary sacrifice, an electric vehicle isn’t taxed based on the salary that you give up: instead you pay tax on the value of the benefit in kind (BIK) tax. BIK is the value of the benefit you receive – in this case, a car. It’s what has helped make salary sacrifice the cheapest way to own an electric car. For battery-electric cars, BIK tax is 1% for 2021/22, and 2% for 2022/23.

Wow mate didn’t realise you’d ordered In September! How many in front of you are the dealer ?

Tempted to say I was first but no way of verifying. I imagine there would have been a small number that early on.

That almost implies your dealer got a 0 allocation in for 2022.

Nope it doesn't. GTS ST customer allocations haven't been made yet. Other ST and non GTS ST variants have. Appreciate that some UK GTS STs are soon to be delivered but its possible these 'allocations ' were originally destined to be demo slots.

The dealer has 2 (of 4) dealerships in Scotland making them the largest so generally this is indicative of the allocations given to a dealer for any model.

Fully expecting some drama and no car this year given the wider challenges at play.

It must be so frustrating for you seeing people who ordered after you and have already got cars..

My dealer has 2 GTS allocations for this year and hopes they can ramp up to 2 per month to make the backlog of 15 units…I’m not so confident though Even though he says Q4 23.

I'm fairly chilled as my target was to get mine for November which may still work out.
