The spoiler position in the state shown in the image above will raise the spoiler when coded with PIWIS4. Once coding is complete and normal driving begins, it will reset and the spoiler will close. It's a shame that it can't be held in place.

That is the maintenance position, and it would be an absolute shame if it did stay in that position. It does not look appealing when going ZERO mph (or kmh). It exposes the plastic that covers the mounting bolts for the spoiler, as well as the bolts for the center tail light. With the spoiler in that position, it's possible you could return to a car without a spoiler and tail lights.

I think that this is not the cleaning mode as it is raised too high. It never raised as much on my 4S and it woukd have been impossible to fiddle with anything.

Correct. Not cleaning mode, it is the maintenance position. It raises the spoiler high enough so you can remove the plastic trim underneath to expose the spoiler bolts so you can remove the spoiler. Makes for changing out your tail lights much, much easier. Also, really helpful for PPF installers to remove the spoiler.

Speaking of cleaning mode. I do frequently see a Taycan in a nearby business complex who parks with the spoiler in the cleaning position. :whew: the things some people go through just to get it up....

It raises in all modes and is speed dependent as it is drive mode dependent.

Looks awful when deployed simply to show off.
Sorry, but are you sure about this? It must only be at exceedingly high speeds if so, as the little ”raised spoiler” logo on my dash doesn’t raise in Normal or Sport all the way up to 100 - only in Range and Sport Plus.

It raises only in sport and sport+ after certain speed brackets, as posted above.
In custom/user mode it doesn't raise even at 260km/h. Also neither does it raise in normal. Tested it myself on autobahn.
Never used range mode, so wouldn't know.

It's a pity it doesn't raise in custom/user mode, as that's what I use 99% of the time...

The spoiler raises in all modes, even in normal mode. There’s another thread that has the graphic for which stage is deployed depending on speed and drive mode.

How did you confirm the spoiler did not raise on the autobahn in normal drive mode? Do you have a picture of your spoiler when going 100+?

Spoiler alert…..the spoiler position is not indicated on the dash when in normal drive mode.

Why would the spoiler not be indicated in the dash only for normal, when it is indicated in the dash for all other modes?

To me it sounds like it doesn’t actually go up in normal :)

It makes 0 sense from a coding perspective to show spoiler status in dash for all modes beside 1, if it is actually working in all modes.

Why doesn’t it? And do you have pictures of your spoiler going up on the autobahn? Why would the spoiler indicator not show up in normal mode when it does in the other modes? Does Porsche hate Notmal mode and want to teach it a lesson? Seems weird.

Are you both oblivious to how your car operates?

@chun , take a moment and think from an everyday driver's perspective, who aren't, you guessed it, thinking about things from a coding perspective. For normal, every day driving, why does the car need to tell you everything that's it is doing? Just do it. Less time looking in the dash, more time with your eyes on the road. I'm glad Porsche didn't ship their cars with the PCM in debug mode. I don't need the car to tell me every little thing it is doing---like Tesla. If the car is going to precondition the battery to "x" temp, just do it.

@RingoDingo , only Porsche knows the WHY. Unfortunately, I have never been on the autobahn. But I'll call your autobahn, and raise you a measly 65mph zone U.S interstate highway. I have not only seen my spoiler deployed while driving behind it, but other Taycan sedans as well.

What seems weird is you need a dash indicator to know when the spoiler is deployed. C'mon.....you've had your car for how long now and still questioning how active aero operates? 😞

I’ve seen lots of Taycans driving at healthy speeds without spoilers deployed. According to you, that’s impossible.

I don’t know why Porsche would need to show an icon when the spoiler is deployed in Sport + but not for Normal. Pics or it didn’t happen - burden is on you.

I have no skin in this game, but it sounds like the simplest, or easiest to obtain pic to settle this would be to take a picture of the IC showing speed, Normal mode, and spoiler deployed indicator. It's simplest because it doesn't require video, graphs, etc - just a simple still.

Sir, I just shared with you a post of a forum member wondering something similar and saw his own car with the spoiler deployed in normal mode.

I'm not saying it's not impossible, at least for a Taycan that hasn't had the spoiler ECU params modified. I'm going to go out on a limb here that, PIWIS modified Taycans wouldn't fall into the category of "lots." Are you saying the spoiler acts differently for some Taycans in normal mode i.e mine vs. yours? Or possibly, your eyes are mistaken? Although, stage 1 is very subtle in normal mode it does deploy...sans icon on dash.

It would be much more satisfying for the both of us to find out you are incorrect on your own accord. You just might find out some other things about your car that you had assumed incorrectly.
