Heard a rumor that Taycan and Mecan to have an ICE option, 718 EV scraped

Its a rumor but it would make sense for the 718 & Mecan.

LOL, the Taycan going ICE is just ridiculous and it’s hard to believe anyone could believe that rumor. I could see the 718 EV being delayed until Porsche sees how the new Macan EV does in the market, but I think that car will have a strong first couple of years. EV adoption in my neck of the woods is accelerating - my garage I park in has more and more EVs every week, with BMW making some big gains. Lots of R1s, IONIQs, and Model 3s in my area and I think the Macan EV won‘t be rare.

Porsche plays the long game and doubt they’re going to fully retreat from their plans as Europe and China continue to electrify. If America does, then we’re the idiots. The Taycan is the best car and best Porsche I’ve ever owned. Zero regrets and 4.5 years later it’s still an awesome car for me.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a pure EV guy with the Taycan being my favorite.
The Mecan EV is already having problems moving. The volume dealers I know are already discounting them.
EVs move with a lot of incentives. All those you mentioned are moving because of discounts and incentives

Actually, I bought mine without any discount or incentive. I just bought a fairly priced used Porsche. I wanted something electric, something riding well and I didn't like Teslas, as they look plain to me.

my local dealer tells me the exact opposite - he's importing Macan EVs from wherever he can get them and trading GAS Macan's to do it - can sell all the MacanEV's he can find, and can't sell the gas Macan's anymore...

he's swapping a lot of gas Macan's to east of the rockies…

Name a single volume dealer discounting the electric Macan 4S or Turbo and I'll call them to confirm.

in the same rumor the original author noted that future bicycles will also have 4 wheels - and try-cycles will have 6 wheels - and steam engines will move to gasoline…it's a topsy turvy world…and airplanes are going to become bullet trains.

BTW: I don't doubt Porsche's desire to maybe have a sports sedan positioned between the 911 and the Panamera, Taycan kinda fills that slot right now - but they could also consider an ICE sports sedan that is more 911 and less Panamera - but it wouldn't be the Taycan - it would be something new…

the original article is pure speculation and lacking in facts/context - but is is/was good click bait…but honestly means nothing until Porsche announces something.

I heard the rumor, the shift away from an EV strategy and this:

I hope its not true, especially as I want the Turbo GT as my next car.
