I'm 60 this year and anything over $100k should have some luxury features. I bought a Porsche because it was sporty looking and really drove well. If I wanted a rocket, I would have bought a Tesla Plaid - that handled really badly! lol It seams the older I get, the softer my booty!

Why have lane keep assist if it only works for 15 seconds? BMW and others use the capacitive steering, which forces your hand to the wheel without all the jerking. If the capacitive steering doesn't sense your touch, it turns off after 15 seconds - just like everything else. Decent compromise to me. The jerking thing seems like a slow motion Parkinson's disease. Even Cadillac has the highway mode.
Oh - and the pano roof does a pretty good job of keeping the heat out.

I'm curious: what do you mean by "the safety mechanism kicks in"? What happens, exactly?

I agree with Schad about the absurdity of having a news "app" in the infotainment screen; having the radar weather map is actually something I use, however.

Here are some things I'd like in the Taycan:
1) option to show the NVA infrared image in the center infotainment screen; place the infrared camera higher (top of windshield) and give it a wider-angle lens

2) offer the Cross Turismo with no glass/pano roof in the US

3) offer the option of setting the electrochromic roof glass to opaque (not just translucent)

4) remove the shelf/lip at bottom of the infotainment screen, which makes it difficult to access the lower part of the screen

5) add in a dial to zoom in/out on the map (like on the non-BEV Porsches)

6) make the door handles regular (not recessed), or at least offer that option; I'm not worried about losing range by having regular door handles, which are infinitely better than electronically recessed handles in terms of practical use

7) make the center vent manual, not electronic

8) full-size spare front wheel/tire in the frunk (option or standard)

9) AM radio

10) heated, no-air windshield (like is optional in the Cayenne and Macan)

11) power-folding rear headrests (like in Volvos)

12) functional automatic plug-and-charge at public-charging stations with no need to ever use a phone app

13) make the maps look better -- like the recent maps in the non-BEV four-door Porsches

14) allow the driver to display the map on the passenger screen with no passenger

15) go back to having frames around the doors' window glass
The safety mechanism is a feature that senses a blockage (like a child's arm or head) getting caught when the window is rolling up. The car senses it and automatically rolls down the window. When the window didn't go directly into the top track and bumped into the outer edge (because of the pressure of the wind push), it automatically kept rolling down.

On #4, the lip is there as a hand rest to help you when you're going down a rough or curvy road and trying to access touch screen items. I have the same lip on my Garmin equipment in my airplanes. Same principle.

On #6, I like the recessed handles, but I do agree that they're not very convenient if you're approaching the car without the key. They don't pop out! Maybe a touch sensitive area like the touch sensitive lock area on the handle that, instead of locking, makes the door handles pop out.

And #9 just pissed me off! It's been a minute since I tuned in to my old AM talk shows. Until you just mentioned it, I didn't know we didn't have AM! I even went out to the car to check. Ugh!

Great ideas!

My vote would be for a bug free PCM and one that actually updates automatically with bug fixes and feature improvements. Also, wifi connectivity like Tesla to make those updates happen in my garage as opposed to the utter lack of updates we currently experience or those only available at Porsche service centers.

5) A way to manually force preheating the battery to prepare for a long roadtrip or fast charging. It should be just a button in the user interface.
How would it know how long to preheat it for, without having the context of the charge stop in the route planner?

Absolutely this.

Finish the PCM (because it's not) and give us software updates OTA.

Nobody likes going to the dealer to download a software patch for the car.

Really? AM? You guys are living in the past! :D

Jokes aside... Off course...i can relate...if there is content that is only available on AM that you want to access. But i honestly thought most developed countries had scrapped AM by the 70's! :D

I like this shelf. I use it to stabilize my hand when pressing the screen.

I would just want a separate way to modulate overrun recup. Either a pedal or a paddle. Preferably a pedal.

Thanks @mhockett for this post and all of the other comments. I've just ordered a new Taycan, some of the comments are illuminating. I'm going from a lux BMW and I was shocked I could not get soft close doors. Soft close doors are one of those options that you never ever thought you needed until its included on your car. On the pano roof, it looks great but I found the modes somewhat limiting. Off is well not really off in that I would like an internal cover (impractical given the design), On is going to be a bit bright and hot where I live and then the partial modes are pre-sets which I don't really like.

If Porsche was to follow everybody’s solutions to problems we would end up with a Toyota.
in a perfect world a perfect car would be as reliable as a toyota with the performance of a porsche

Thanks @mhockett I would like an internal cover (impractical given the design)
hardly impractical, my Jaguar IPace has a similar full pano roof and a removable cover. there are aftermarket covers for the tesla pano roofs.
On is going to be a bit bright and hot where I live and then the partial modes are pre-sets which I don't really like.
to allay you concerns about light and heat from the pano. I am in FL, and many others who live in sunny, hot regions, have had no issues with the pano roof. the interior is no hotter than a car with a metal roof, consider getting the windows and windshield tinted if that is a big concern for you.

Virginia Beach area can get pretty hot as well. So far, this sun has gone unnoticed as far as heat penetration. They've done a nice job there. I did not get the pano top with the screening capability and it has been just fine.

One other thing. If you don't get the pano top, just remember that you won't be able to roll down the windows and feel the breeze as you're rolling down the road. The buffeting will beat you to death! Lol
