Will my Tesla wall charger work fine with the Taycan 4S CT (I have the CCS adapter)?

Any drawbacks versus the Porsche charger, like can you only change charging settings/ profiles etc remotely if you have the Porsche one?

should be fine it is in North America, but a euro person can weigh in - there is no reason to expect it not to work if you can plug it in.

There might be a dip-switch inside to enable legacy mode (disable Tesla communications). For US I know there is one, for other countries I don't know but seem to recall reading somewhere (here or Tesla forums) about people in Australia using said dip switch to charge non-Tesla cars in the past. In the US, without flipping the dip switch it still works for the Taycan, just adds a ~10 second delay at the beginning while the Tesla protocol is timing out.

I've had no problem with mine. I have an adapter and it has worked the half dozen times I've used it since I got my CT4 on May 31. The Tesla wall charger is at a summer home. I was concerned the first time so I had extra charge just in case, but it was a non-issue after all.

If you have the old one there is a bank of dip-switches that need to be in the correct position. If it’s a newer one you just go to the app and tell it to work with all cars. I swear by them. They are the cheapest, best performant and the smallest on the market. At least in Europe. We had lots of Teslas previously but are for the moment more Europe centric with our brands and the Tesla-wall boxes still work as charms!

And going back to your original post the form-factor seems to be the old one with a newish shell. So probably dip-switches. :)

I don't suppose anyone knows what position the dip switches should be in?
There should be a sticker inside explaining the dip switch positions. Otherwise google installation manual for this particular model. You should only need to switch one dip switch to "legacy comms" IIRC (the other switches set the max charging current, which should not change as it is dependent on your installation rather than the car you connect to it).

have you tried it and it doesn't work?

it should "just work" no changes required - but I could be wrong

I didn't have to make any changes to my north american Tesla EVSE's - but there is a small time out while the car and the tesla EVSE both figure out they are not talking to a Tesla - but that's a small delay after plug in and does not affect charging.

Yes. It just works - I have (had 2) one of them, still in use after six years. Good units.

There is no DIP setting required (as I recall from the install).
