So the car was just over 3yrs old when I purchased from a non Porsche dealer and the keyfobs were missing. I bought second hand ones off eBay so they needed pairing up which took about 30 minutes at the dealership. I've not used the second one as often as the primary I randomly selected, but when I have that one is flat too, so I fear both are draining rapidly. I could ask Porsche to replace them, but seeing as I didn't buy from them in the first place I'm not sure how successful that will be.... hmm, def doesn't seem normal though eh!

Original batteries here on both keys and tracker fobs (PVTS) after 13 months.

I wouldn’t expect to replace either of them in under 2 years. Perhaps I will be disappointed ?
Message flashed up tonight, 'driver card battery low' (or words to that effect).

Presuming this is the battery inside the PVTS (Vodafone) fob, rather than the car key (which I replaced both sets of batteries around 6 months ago).

So any ideas how to crack open the rectangular wedge-shaped PVTS fob? It's not immediately obvious...

It just slides apart in two halves. Apply a little pressure top and bottom in the centre and then slide.

My key-fob battery lasted a year (I drive 35000km a year, I have keyless-access). Started using the spare key, which also lasted almost exactly a year.
Both gave me a waring, after which they still lasted at least a week (then I replaced them)

Thanks I was trying everything (except actually reading the manual ?) to get them opened. Now I have the knack.

Incidentally I tested the CR2032 button cell in a coin cell tester I've got and it reported 60% life (on each coin cell respectively) and both reported 2.46v loaded (can't just test them o/c with a DMM)

The dash message reported that as "empty". Oh well they almost got 2.5 years.

Ha ha, I'd sold mine by then and bought a 911 and skipped the fobs (not required by insurers now).

Glad to see the back of them.
