I have a question that I hope you can help with. I have had to replace my batteries in the key fobs twice already after the first month of ownership. This can't be right, although i accept that the first set of batteries already in the fobs may have been a bit older. The latest batteries I have bought are of a higher quality, so I am hoping that they will last longer. Can I ask how long you find your batteries typically last? I am considering whether I need to raise this with the dealership as a potential issue. Thanks for your help.

First, we need to rule out the obvious. There are many threads on this forum concerning how the key fobs will drain their batteries if they are within radio range of the Taycan. Can you confirm that you store your keys nowhere near the Taycan?

I am at 14 months on the original battery.

Hi @Genau, I keep the fob about 30' to 40' from the car. I don't keep itnin any kind of faraday pouch, so perhaps I should do that?

That should be fine. Basically if the key isn't flashing it isn't draining the battery.

Tracker fob (PVTS) or regular key?

My tracker fob remains functional after 9 months and is kept within 4 meters of the car. Same place I previously kept the tracker fob for my Cayenne. It used to last around a year to 15 months.

Regular key is kept in a faraday box elsewhere and lasts a bit longer.

2 years. Haven't changed batteries in keys or fob. Unless they did it in the service ?‍♂

Amazing!

I changed my 4S fob battery once in 2 years and now my GTS ST tracker fob after 10 months.

ALmost as if they don't always install 100% fresh cells.

Fob battery may well have been replaced for you but surprising if free...you know what like!

Original batteries here on both keys and tracker fobs (PVTS) after 13 months.

I wouldn’t expect to replace either of them in under 2 years. Perhaps I will be disappointed ?

FWIW, I asked this question of my SA at handover and got an answer of a year or two. Maybe you have an intermittent short in the fob itself?

The way I would try to check that would be to swap batteries between the two fobs you are using and watch if the problem follows the battery or the fob.

Thanks all for your feedback and questions. This is the tracker fob, and I have had to change the batteries in both units twice. The car comes up saying the battery is dead, also, as a result I am getting calls from the tracker company. I have just fitted new batteries yesterday. The original batteries from the dealership lasted about a week or 2. I spoke to the tracker company about this when I originally started getting calls from them amd they said quite often the original batteries don't last long as they might have been sitting around for some time. I have ordered a pouch for the tracker fobs, so will see if this helps. If not, I will be making a call to the dealership. Thanks again for your feedback.

Came here as I'm getting through tracker 'driver card' keyfob batteries like there's no tomorrow! Both were flat when I purchased them off ebay, so put cheap CR2032's in and Porsche paired them up with my car. A week later both flat again (stored in a faraday pouch and car only used occasionally, say once a week). Replaced both with Duracells. Flat again a week or two later! I'm now on my third set of batteries in about 6 weeks, this can't be right surely? I test them with a battery tester and sure enough, low, therefore I don't think the car is fibbing....

Odd - as is 'pairing'.

How old is your car as from MY23 onwards there is no need to pair. Prior MYs there was a physical tracker box which required pairing - painful it was too (my original MY21 4S took 2 hrs to complete at the dealership!)? These days the PCM has it all onboard.

My guess is that the fob has a short in it - ask Porsche / Vodafone to replace the fob(s) - does it drain on both or just one?
