The trick I use to be clear is to get the door to re-attempt to close (it retracts and tries to close - use either multiple swipes of fin, repeated pushing of end charge button and/or console open/close button) and the KEY point is to ‘interrupt’ the door on its descent almost immediately I.e. when it reappears after retraction, don’t let it travel more than one inch when it appears/is visible AND not just putting your fingers/hand in its way but provide a firm press up to imitate a blockage.okay so I got the exact same problem with the charge port. Stuck half open and i didn't use it. I got the error message when I entered the vehicle and noticed it was open. I have to leave with the car in a few days... i might try again and then call my dealer if no success.. Wtf is this seriously.
I've not got any kids.....I went back to the car and now the charge port was fully open (when I left it was mid-open) so I tried to close it and it worked flawlessly. I’ve open and close it 10times without any problem. Go figure ?
Not had this specific issue but have had the impaired message when the door closed on the DC flap which hadn't sprung back into position.Well unfortunately roadside assistance weren't able to sort it out - they tried some computer diagnostics and fuse resets but no joy, so off to the dealer it will need to go. Interestingly I hadn't picked up on it before but the dash error does indeed say it is the opposite port which is impaired (so on my right hand drive car with the right hand AC port jammed open it reports "left hand AC/DC charge port impaired") - very strange!
I’ve had the same problem. Near side port door stuck half way and dash reports ‘right hand’ port impaired.
6 or 7 times now. No amount of fiddling fixes. Resolves itself over night. Dealership can’t find any fault….
Heidi - if it happens again make sure to video it - and, yes of course you almost certainly won't catch it on its first hangIs v annoying- I warned Porsche that they wouldn’t be able to reproduce the fault - they couldn’t, so no action taken. So what if it happens again I asked? Call Porsche Assist….. call me cynical, but you can bet the minute it’s out of warranty they’ll decide it needs a new sensor or door motor ?
Good call & thanks, I’ll give it a try next time it happens ?Heidi - if it happens again make sure to video it - and, yes of course you almost certainly won't catch it on its first hang!
But when it happened to my car I was able to muck with the charge ending button/release button in the charge port area and repeatedly slide my fingers across the 'fin' to force it to re-attempt to close - this worked - I had my iPhone ready to capture video of it sticking and then shared with the SA.
Fingers crossed you can replicate this,
Cheers, C.
PS: If you can't get it to re-attempt a close you can still of course video it stuck open and whilst pressing buttons to illustrate nothing happens and it stays stuck.
This problem occurs on my wife’s Fiat 500e in cold weather - you have to almost take a bat to the poor car to get the manual flap open. That said, I’ve had the DC side door mechanism replaced on mine due to errors.Don't be too quick to discount the electric charge ports though.
I have the manual ones and during a recent cold snap (-10) the LH catch was frozen after overnight charging and I couldn't get the flap to 'click shut'.
When the car warmed in the sun it started working again, but the same thing happened 3 cold days on the trot.
You couid drive it with the flap slightly ajar ok, but the manual flaps are not very robust imo.

Porsche and fuel cap or port covers is not a core strength at all on any of there models in my experience. Clearly missed this on the zillion miles of winter testing....This was mine after a recent cold night.
I had charged overnight at that port, but the flap would not click closed until it warned up in the sun.
It would not latch shut....just bounced back to this position.
Happens every time it's below about -5c
