inclusive data shown below includes 3 15 minute high consumption Laguna Seca track session.

3.2 miles/kwh is the best I’ve seen on a single “trip”
1.8 miles/kWh is the worst I’ve seen on a normal ”trip”

Efficiency figures for my 4s. I have 20" wheels on the vehicle, and for the past 5 months I have been running Pirelli winter tires on the vehicle. I will switch back to summer tires at the end of April.

Probably 90% of the miles are highway miles at cruising speeds of 75mph to 80mph. 3,000 of those miles were with a bike on top of the car, so that killed efficiency. I also live in Colorado, so it has been cold for the past 5 months or so. One note is that I try not to run any climate control if I can get away with it. I ran the AC in the middle of the desert on a Vegas to Orange country run last October because it was 105F degrees, but I can survive with a window down at 95F easily. I have had to run the defroster a few times going over high mountain passes in the winter, but other than that I try to tough it out with seat warmers/seat coolers. This tends to help offset some of my battery usage due to higher speeds.

Finally, on my half of the country there are a lot of mountains with significant elevation gain to deal with that most other do not. So, there is an impact on efficiency for that as well.

Overall, I am pretty impressed with the efficiency of the vehicle considering how hard I have worked it during the first year I have had it. COVID has changed my lifestyle since I am not traveling almost weekly for work, so I like a change of scenery and will head out someplace warm at least a week a month. Hence the high mileage on the car so far. This summer I will get to enjoy full use of the car since I will not be dealing with the 12v battery issues, nor waiting for a replacement DC converter, and will look to head to more remote places - there is a Jackson, WY trip in June planned for sure.

I am guessing that by the time we finish up this exercise we will see efficiency numbers all across the board. Some people use their cars only for local use, while others have ventured far and wide. Also, weather, elevation, and driving style all play a part.

In the meantime, enjoy driving those cars and may a high speed charger always be within range!

here is some of the trip data from the Laguna Seca date - NOTE this is _NOT_ representative of street driving

Don't most people use kWh/100km or kWh/100mi?
It depends on the country. The USA and I believe UK use miles. ;-)

That's why I provide both units in the spreadsheet on the right and provide 2 graphs.
I try to be international.

Also depends on what you define as "most people",
larges population or most Taycan owners???

Ron, can you make a spreadsheet in kWh/100km as this is the metric number for EVs in EU
I think that is influenced by Le Deutsche Auto Industri, jaaa!

It is something they have started just to have it similar to Litres per 100 km!

Do not think there is any other reason for that

19 inch wheels.
Drive mainly in normal mode, only started doing range mode recently.
Northern California weather, but I often start my drives early mornings when it may be 50 outside.

not sure why this has gotten better since my driving patterns are the same,.

Turbo S, 21" wheels, 12 months, average temperature 11°C.
Spirited driving, like a Porsche should be driven.

So this post made me realise my figure was per 100 miles not KwH like I could’ve sworn it was when I posted it. Pleasantly surprised with that

2020 Turbo with 20" summer tires, driven mostly in normal mode, in the S.F. Bay Area (temps usually 50-75 F).

I think there is a reason for it. China uses this metric too, so does the UK and most other countries but with miles.

@Dee just admitted that he himself embodies the definition of “most people”.

I have now driven 3045 km and have an average effiency of 26,9 kWh/100km. It is left as an exercise to the reader to figure out the effiency in kWh/100miles. :giggle:

Oh, and I have 20" wheels.

Since China and the EU uses km I kinda assumed that we agree "most people" applies to both. ;)

Using either mi or km is clear, I was referring to mi/kWh consumption numbers, which I find problematic in 2 ways:

1. If the number is higher the consumption is lower. How is that easy?

2. If the consumption is really high. i.e. 0.5 mi/kWh, that would be anything between
0.5499 to 0.4500 (depending on rounding method) which is between 182 kWh/100mi (113 kWh/100km) and 222 kWh/100mi (138 kWh/100km). That makes a huge difference if you want to compare...

I completely agree with you, that is why I have my Taycan configured to show kWh/100mi and I shift the decimal place right one to be Wh/mi.

But to share a fun consumption while traveling from Virginia City Nevada to Carson City I traveled 11 mi for free (I.e. lots of downhill). I apologize for the glare.
