Yay. I guess it's my turn.

I was having a great charge at Electrocute America - I rolled in with 15% SoC, preconditioned battery, and a balanced charger site. Boom, 260kW. Nice.

Another car plugged in next to me and it dropped to 177kW. Not so nice.

When I finished up, I powered up the car and got the yellow electrical system error. Powering off/on, it kept coming back.

After driving home and leaving it for a couple hrs, it stopped happening.
Was it related to battery temp? Was it just a software glitch? WHO KNOWS!

Taking the car in Monday and expect I won't see it for a very long time. So over this.

@derek
I am surprised you do not have one. Highly recommend it and you can find the answer yourself.
OBD/CarScanner will show you Cell graphs for Voltage, Temp, SoC and if there is at least a single outlier then you know that is what is causing it.

However, I think that is related to the HV battery temp as it preconditions too aggressively and then charging process heats it up way too much. I tried it once and never again will I make my HV battery temp go to 130F+.

I would make sure you have Battery Friendly ON and avoid precondition as you only need battery to be at 95F to accept max charging speed for J1.1.

Not like I can repair the battery cells myself, so spending more money to know something I can't fix doesn't resonate for me.

I'll just take it in and drive their loaner Macan for the rest of my life.

This is not true. This would give you a peace of mind that is worth every penny of the $59:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B088LW211V?th=1

Also, you will get a lot of interesting data such as your battery SoH that can trigger a warranty call depending on the level and miles. Then you learn your actual battery energy that would help you know your actual range based on real time consumption and not the car estimate, etc. Also, I can assume you do not do a battery rebalance.

There is a lot of good things here. Very surprised you do not get it why it is useful and a given for any Taycan owner. I am happy to help you step by step.

This is my data:

22,000 miles
86.61% SoH
78.77kWh Battery Energy at 100% SoC

Got mine this past Monday. Completely dead - had to tow. Service Center says 22 kW onboard charger. It also killed the 12V battery. At least my (assumed long-term) Macan loaner is the Macan EV.

My mom never told me that I would have to share my charger. Geezzz, my toys, my cookies, and now this?

Charging will really heat the battery up. did it show the BATT TEMP on the screen?

Nope, no errors. I don't remember the battery temp exactly but it was over 100F which is normal when preconditioned and fast charging, in my experience.

Ya know…the dream of super fast charging on these things is mostly a pipe dream.

It requires a fully working charger, without contention, with a low SoC and hot battery.

In the early days I got lots of “perfect” charge sessions on road trips. Nowadays I’m lucky if there’s a working charger with no wait that gives me 150kW.

Derek, this must be a California thing. We are doing just fine around here in Midwest. Now, I want all the charging station building to stop, just too many already and then we can charge at Tesla now, too...

CA has a lot of chargers, but because of the rebates and promotions, there are more cars than chargers. Many of the large chargers have a split setup or shared, depending on the power available

I saw it starting in Texas too before I left, but it’s definitely worse here.

Dropped it off this morning. Got an ICE Macan.
Yuck.

Interestingly they told me my car has an open recall to replace the heater. I had a heater failure and replacement in 2023, so maybe this is a different revision?

I’m thinking my yellow error was battery-temp induced, and erroneous/ignorable. I hope so as it means this visit would be days not weeks/months.

Will update as I hear more.
