I love this! I couldn't rationalize the extra $$$ and time for the GTS over the 4S, but I really didn't look forward to the cladding. I do have the ORDP coming on the car (currently sitting in Emden) and this is very exciting to me. I do see the hole behind the front wheel, but my guess is that is relatively easily solvable. Now to get the right lowering solution figured out to get back down to GTS/Sedan heights.
For the sedan height... you can set one of your shortcut diamond keys to just put you on "low" which is equivalent to sedan "regular" and you're off to the races. No need for a physical mod on that one.

Got some plastic caps and Dolomite silver touch up paint ordered to cover up that remaining hole. Hopefully have some better pics after the weekend.

man, after dropping mine around 10mm I noticed it bottoming out over big dips super frequently here in the Bay Area. I ended up reinstalling the OEM links after 2k miles as it was so frustrating- not sure how you’re dealing!
I’m in South Bay. Mostly drive in lowered and normal suspension or low with sport setting. I’m wondering if what you’re feeling is the spring rate ramping up. With the air springs I can feel the rate is quite progressive. But no noticeable clunk when you get to the end of travel. I’m more worried about scraping the front lip on those freeway transitions.

C’mon, “sedan regular” ain’t low enough! We’re driving sports cars here, not tractors. ?

You're input (to my endless questions :)) whilst not the main reason, helped in part to push me towards the (way more expensive!) CETTE system which is infinitely and real time adjustable - again not a neg on the links just a preference that would allow me to very easily test multiple settings and land on an optimal setup.

the spring rate ramp up you’re feeling is the bump stops!

I meant to reply to your other thread where you had asked that question about bottoming out but couldn't find it.

I would disagree. It's a smooth ramp up, nothing like the spike in rate when the bump stops hit and you feel it (and hear it) through the chassis. I've experienced varying degrees of bottoming out on other vehicles at the track when experimenting with rates and ride heights, and some times just from taking curbs too aggressively.

For many of us with both the gravel package and the desire to roll as low as the car won't scrape, just setting the quick buttons won't work in to get us as low as we want. With the sedan links and the individual drive modes and diamond quick settings I expect it will be much easier. I don't want to go any lower than "sedan low".

Keep us posted on the which plugs you use and where to find them. I'll be right behind you.

One has to expect that an air spring will grow in effective spring rate as it is compressed (logarithmically, I think).

The roads around the Bay Area are some of the worst "highways" in the west. I have often claimed that if I was relocated to it, I'd daily a Raptor on 37s.

A bump stop does not have to be short and hard. For example, the early Tesla model s (along with some generations of F1 cars) use the bump stops at normal ride height. The ramp up that you’re feeling is certainly the bump stops and not the air spring ramp up. Air springs generally ramp up linearly with a direct ratio between pressure and volume displacement, P=nRT/V. Any exponential ramp is likely due to an additional spring being added, ie: a bumpstop.

Older cars with flexy chassis’ and short and stiff bump stops would exacerbate the crash feeling, and they did a pretty good job blending it into the taycan’s road manners, but you’re still getting into the bump stops. When one of us pulls a damper out, this will be pretty easy to demonstrate.

Just my .02, although I’ve only designed a few road car suspensions in my past, not as much as some of our other members.

I understand. I've used a number of progressive off-road bumpstops.

One thing to note that each inch of travel of an air -bag/spring is a greater portion of the remaining volume. All the air bags that I've used have created a progressive rate. The last couple of inches of an airbag travel are incredibly firm :)

Now, I don't call myself a suspension designer. I've got spreadsheets full of wheel rates, motion ratios, and natural frequencies that I've tried in cars, but I don't pretend to understand much about geometry.

The sedan and the CT use the same air spring part #'s from what I can tell (but different dampers), so my hope is that taking a CT to GTS/Sedan height won't result in unwanted behavior. Fortunately, it's all easily adjustable AND reversible.

@Visceral I just adjusted my front links to get the fender gap to match the rear. Measuring 28-7/8” all around (ground to fender) in low setting which I believe is the same as stock sedan low setting according to the chart on Vivids website. Link lengths 91.5mm front/95mm rear. I would not buy the Vivid links again since they use cheap cad plated steel and show some corrosion after just 1200mi in CA.

Thank you so much! I just straight up ordered everything you listed. I was surprised but happy they had Mamba Green touch-up paint. Now I have to return these clear corners for sedan corners (which I initially almost mistakenly ordered).

Recommend the FVD links - much higher quality and just a little bit more expensive - have anti-corrosion built in and dust covers etc.

Which wheel spacers did you purchase? (I think I saw you purchased some). ECS claims their Porsche 15mm spacers dont fit the Taycan.

Also, is that Porsche's MTB rack, or if it's aftermarket, how is it connected?

Well, I know a few of you are wondering what a Sport Turismo conversion would look like so here it is. Had this plan before the ST was even a thing

I had intentionally ordered the Off Road Design Package to make sure the removed fender cladding wouldn’t expose any unusual steps or holes. Turns out there are infact 3 alignment pins per side. Two of which are hidden with the ORDP. The third one is inconspicuous enough that I think a body coloured plug will never have me think of it again, or at least until the next time I’m washing the car. See if you can spot it.
@bsclywilly Do you have pictures of the insides of the arches to show the structure and alignment pins? I wrapped my arches when I wrapped the car to match as no one had done what you did here yet to know what was underneath. I don’t have the ORDP and am curious what else would be exposed as far as holes go in addition to the 1 you had to get plugs for.
