I was driving the other day on the ‘autobahn’ for the sake of the legalities and hit 161mph in short order - the car felt like it had a lot more to give and I was just wondering what the top speed would be unlimited?

1500 miles in and i’m in love ?

OK VERY rough calculation here. You can normally say that top speed changes approximately with the cube of power providing things like drag do not change.
If you take a base Taycan with 326hp and a top speed of 143mph and assuming power tails off with revs / time at the same rate as the TTS then the numbers for the TTS say 178mph. Of course the TTS drag is worse so that would say 178 is a bit high. It feels like too low a number to me.
The main problem with the Taycan would be the gearing, it will run out of revs before reaching any theoretical top speed.

If it was an ICE car with 600+hp and the right gearing, like say an M5, I'm sure 190mph would be possible.

Interesting… it just felt like it would easily have kept going and going, maybe to 200. Shan’t be trying that again though, don’t want to push my luck ?

Permanent power with the TTS is 625 HP.
The drag coefficient is 0.22.
Assuming the 2nd gear is adjusted to the speed, it should do approx 205 mph (based on other cars with the same perf/ drag, e.g., Ferrari Roma)

I think there a couple of things to consider here and not trying to be picky. Firstly, the TTS drag is 0.25 but more importantly the 625 hp is not really a continuous rating but a 10 second rating. I’ve never seen anything published about the rating after 10 seconds. This is why I make the comment about the power tailing off with time in my first post. An ice car can hold it‘s maximum output for much longer than current EVs and of course you need a long duration of high output to reach Vmax.

The top speed, if not limited (i.e. unlimited, as requested) is infinite, either Aleph 1 If we’re considering speed to be continuous or Aleph 0 if we’re considering it discrete with time and space quantized.

Final answer.

All other answers are wrong as they impose some limit which is not what was requested by OP. Next question.

751 hp in "launch control", 617 in normal/continous operation, I believe?
And I do remember the full effect is only, like, 2 seconds..? Don't know where the 10 seconds come from - source pls?

Wherein there do you find the reference to the 10 seconds?

This one speaks to me;

The Taycan 4S is therefore able to reproduce its impressive acceleration time of 4.0 seconds for the sprint from 0-100 km/h more than 10 times in succession without any problems

Ahh!! I was searching. "10 sec" was in a picture. Got it.
News to me. Thans for the heads up @tigerbalm and @David Bennett

Probably the wikipedia article is wrong then...

Is there any knowledge/readings on the power output after 10 seconds?
