I had a call from my sales person to make sure I was happy with my latest configuration because Porsche were going ahead suddenly with some orders.
I suspect anybody who has an order with no options susceptible to extra delay is getting made to get the throughput. I dropped the Bose option for this reason and my code is still showing MY22 and volcano grey painted wheels which are not on the latest configurator.
I did want matrix lights but was told they will be available for cars MY23 in 3 months time, not now.
Who told you that there’s a delay on Bose parts? I’ve not heard this?

The dealer had a printout of part shortages for various models. It was on that.
They get frequent updates so it may not be as big a limit now but the 2 things on my spec which were also on the list of extra delay were Bose and Racetex B-pillar, so I dropped both.

I'd guess that, wherever there's a shortage of parts, cars that have them as standard spec are given priority...unless they are still unbuildable due to having other standard parts that are unobtanium.
RaceTex B-pillars are a strange one considering the acreage of RaceTex needed as standard for GTS & Turbos. Perhaps they're an item that requires diversion to the Exclusiv Manufaktur production line which is too much hassle for the price if it's the only option needing that?

Thanks for that. Did it say how long a wait and what parts were missing? Like can the car be handed over to the customer for a later installation? Wondering also if it affects cars already fixed in production, hmmm. Mine should have entered the body shop yesterday ?

I think the extra delay for Bose was 6 weeks but I don’t think that was for cars in production already, who knows though. It was good to get a bit of extra info not on the web!

They won't release cars until they are finished unfortunately. Not having at least Bose would not be an option but if you don't listen to music often it makes sense to not "create" delays for yourself.

I emailed Customer Services to ask whether I could get tracking via My Porche set up for my order which locked for the originally planned late April build and has since gone the way of many others i.e. no clue being given as to when it will get built. Apologies to those who've already seen this posted elsewhere but it might be of interest to others starting the journey of enlightenment. The reply:
The ‘Behind the Scenes’ Process is visible through your My Porsche Portal, via a web browser. The production process is only visible once the production process has begun at the factory. You will receive an email inviting you to view the stages in your My Porsche.
...which begs the question of what does "the production process has begun at the factory" mean exactly. At least I've now established a point of certainty...mine has not started to be built, I can stop deluding myself I might get a call to say it's landed and I can take delivery.

They do release them if it isn’t something that would affect the safety of the vehicle for example in the US they let customers have cars without the ordered power steering plus until they got the part. Also the base sound system is laughable if you enjoy music not even at an audiophile level. So for me, the Bose was a minimum build option.

I actually listen to music as a main hobby but found a car a rubbish environment so after having spent a fortune on car systems in my 30s gave up in disgust and now accept the SQ in a car is not going to be much good.
I am still slightly miffed about the Bose since I am going for the extra sound insulation and thought the Taycan would be much less rubbish for music than usual but Bose doesn’t have much of a reputation in the hifi world and I am really fed up of waiting for the car.

I've just been told mine is in Sheerness despite the app and website saying "Scheduled for Production". Has anyone else had such a lag?

yes. Hence the need to email the dealer weekly : )

Poor guy will celebrate the handover date. Unless something goes wrong....!

Is it too simplistic to say all options with " Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur " against them will add delays?

I heard that, even in normal times, Exclusive Manufaktur (I'll call it EM from now...) options involve the car going through the main production line, emerging with standard parts, and then being sent to the EM line to have the relevant ones replaced with the EM options, thus taking a longer build duration than standard. But, in the scheme of things with current supply chain issues, that extended build duration is minor compared with build start delays through lack of parts. Options (whether EM or not) that require additional parts increase the likelihood of delay through unavailability. Upthread it sounds like some dealerships are trying to advise customers of some availability issues- but until a build is slotted I suppose it might not be known what supply issues it will face.
On the other hand, maybe some EM options might allow for a faster build than one with the default option?

The only option with EM on my build is the model designation in gloss black, so I'm hopeful gloss black paint is still in plentiful supply ?

I'll get a Sharpie on it if you need someone to sort it post-production.
