This morning we were supposed start our trip back home to France from Stockholm. A nice trip planned with several nice hotels, restaurants booked as well.

My car is one of the earliest Turbo registered in France in February 2020.

I had experienced some issues with the range here lately and also seen that one of my cells in the main battery, seemed to have issues. Yesterday my range deteriorated and fell dramatically. 145 km driving at average 65 km/h reduced the battery charge by 65+%! Calculations gave me a likely capacity of the battery of only 40 kWh.

First thing this morning I saw a charging error had occurred during the night, which was concerning.

And then when trying to move the car from an underground garage the dreaded red screen appeared.

Call to Porsche Assistance in France (Sweden could not help at all since car is registered in France) has so far not resulted in any action for 3 hours despite a few reminders. Not even received a case number as yet?

Car will not engage in any gear at all, but will go into neutral. But the towing guys will have their work cut out in a quite tight garage spot. ??

Not very impressed by the Porsche Assistance service so far

Sorry to hear this...
It sounds like you'll get a brand new battery though. ?

Awful. Sorry for you.

That faults happen is unavoidable (but please not many of them). That follow-up is bad is not acceptable. Hope you get this sorted out soon, and please report. I am a Norwegian going to Sweden and Finland end of this week...

How many KM / Miles are your car. I’m worried now. I have a 2020 Turbo 7/20 build date. Part of me is actually hoping this happens ?

They will likely do a cell repair (or two), as they did for mine, at this point. I think if there are > 2 cells that need repairing, they replace the battery, as it becomes too difficult to balance the charge.

I have about 56,000 km on my car. 35000miles?

I have had. A scare before but that was probably just a glitch. Car has been fantastic for driving with glitches in the PCM. The last week started to show some problem, but now tha car is completely dead and towed after a lot of problems.

Let us see what they say, but you are probably correct.

Ok I’m at 31,800 miles and no problems as of yet. I’ll make sure I don’t take some crazy out of town trips for a bit and see what happens.
thanks for sharing.

A very long frustrating day with Porsche Assistance. I am registered in France but in Stockholm Sweden at the moment. The car this morning was dead and I contacted Porsche Assistance. 3 - 4 hours later they had done nothing. Perhaps a bit of language barrier?
Tried the Swedish Assistance but they could not help since the car had a French plate.

Finally promised a tow truck.

Only to see that the girst one could not help in an underground garage due to the low ceiling height.

Second tow truck helped me to push the car out of the perking spot, but could not help with towing since the car had to wide wheel base in front.

Third tow truck with better width arrived and we managed to push the car into a suitable position. However the booster failed. Then the tow truck could not lift the front end due to the Taycans weight. The front of the little truck lifted!

Fourth tow truck arrived after a total of six hours and managed to lift the car without getting too light in front. And he had a well charged booster to get the parking brake to release. Towed the car through the garage and up to street level.

Had another wait for a low loader to finally get the car on its back and taken away. Altogether a 6 hour wait in the underground garage after a message that Porsche Assistance tow truck had arrived.

Not at all impressed with Porsche Assistance at this stage. Absolutely no communication, no help and no offer of loan/hire car. They have not stated how they will get us back home either.

vary nice touch by one of the Parking inspectors though. He never asked if I had paid for the stay, but came over with a can of Coke Zero for me with a smile!!!! He said he understood my predicament and felt he could help this way!!! Fantastic gesture and much appreciated !

Let us see what happens tomorrow.

One lesson learned is to check how you park in an underground garage if trouble occurs. The Taycan is very heavy to push up a very tiny slope!!!

I would not worry too much since my car has worked very well, but last week it started to show some issues. No fault codes or trouble, but a very steep loss of range. Enjoy it and use the car as intended. Be prepared to think about how to tow it out from a parking space though!

@Scandinavian I'm very sorry you are having to deal with the electrical failure, and getting the car out of garage. You mentioned that car would go into neutral, but later you mentioned problems with using booster.
Was the booster needed because the car would no longer move in neutral?
If so, how was the booster eventually connected to the car - in the frunk, or in the driver's footwell?

The car still workEd on the 12 volt battery when the tow truck arrived. We could open the front lid (frunk) etc. At that stage the red error message lit up the right tube. By trying to put the car into reverse we could get it into neutral and push it out from the spot. Heavy but did work. No booster at that stage. Then suddenly the car started beeping and behaving strangely. And then it suddenly died altogether. No response from the key, no interior lights etc etc. This is where he put on a NOCO booster and got the car to light up again. Put it into reverse to release the parking brake and we could roll it a bit again.
But then I `believe that trucks booster ran out of power. At that stage the front lid was closed and the car dead.

Next tow truck with booster put the booster in at the drivers footwell, opened the front and connected the booster to the battery. That again made it possible to get the brake released to push it.

So in order to get any response from the car it was needed to connect the booster to the battery. There were a lot of flashing lights on it and a fairly big unit. Certainly much larger than the one I have.

The guys that finally towed it out from the garage had two of these boosters that they used. One after the other, and they seemed to know that power would run out

Well that certainly sucks. The very least Porsche could do is step up and coordinate service between Sweden and France and arrange some kind of transportation for you.

In the Baseline for HV Battery SoH thread your min/max cell difference was 116mv on Thursday and 264mv on a Friday post (module 30, cell 6). You have reinforced that CarScanner and an OBD dongle should be standard equipment on every car. Any strange behavior with range and it's time to do a check. Thanks to your bad luck I'll know to avoid travel if I see that kind of cell imbalance and rapid deterioration. Sincerely, thanks for posting the info. I hope Porsche does the right thing and handles your situation as they should.

Strange that the Porsche Assistance is national and not European. I presumed it would be like BMW. I once had a problem. Just pushed the button in the car and it contacted BMW assistance. They could see my location and solved things.
