That's great news! I was only expecting one of those options, nevermind up to potentially 5! I'll make a note when I go for the test drive with my dad and use it as a negotiation tool.

With regards to the window tint, is this the same as the privacy glass pack? Or is it just for the front driver and passenger side windows?

Also, each branch I've spoken to have advised me to add the performance battery pack option as it will help with the residual value. But I can't see the cost of this option (£4600) nearly repaying itself in residual value after 3 years. Am I correct in thinking this?
If you option the Thermally and Noise Insulated Glass I don't think you have to have window tint on your car as the windows are already have darker glass installed. That being said, you could always go darker and if you didn't option the Thermally and Noise Insulated glass you will notice a difference.

I don't think the residual boost is really offsetting it by that much in the grand scheme of things, but I would highly advise getting the Performance Battery Plus - not only for the added range but for the added performance.

Luke, here’s a question for you... a number of Taycan odds and ends (paperweights, little model cars, etc) were received by some people here from their dealers during the wait for delivery to begin. I received nothing from my dealer, so I assume this is a per-dealer thing and not directly from PCNA. How does it work from the dealer side?
Great question!

It is on a per dealer basis - PCNA does not really contribute anything towards accessories for clients. In most instances, the dealership is actually the one coming up with/designing the items that these clients are receiving.

For example, at my dealership we personally had Taycan model paperweights and specially designed Hourglasses with Taycan blue sand made for some of our clients who ordered a Taycan with us. We didn't order a ton as they were very expensive (almost $75 per custom paperweight and $100 for the hourglasses) and I gave out as many as I could but ran through them super fast.

I wish Porsche had some more commemorative pieces that they throw in with the car, but I guess that's what our parts department and boutique are for!

Excluding the thermally and noise insulated glass (as I'm not intending to spec that), would this incentive tinting be applied to the back seat windows, or the driver and passenger windows?

Would the performance battery plus essentially upgrade the 4S to the speeds of the Turbo? 30 mile increase in range for me is negligible as I'm not a long distance driver anyway and 190 is already sufficient. The only reason I would upgrade was if it kept at least 50% of the cost (£4500) in residual value?

Edit: Comparing the technical data between the standard 4S:

Battery Plus:

There doesn't seem to be much of a difference in performance?

A Taycan 4S with the Performance Plus Battery upgrade will definitely retain at least 50% of the upgrade cost. The only option that will.

There doesn't seem to be much of a difference in performance?
When we have Taycan windows tinted here we have the Driver and Passenger side windows, both rear side windows, and the rear boot window tinted.

The performance from 0-60 mph is really similar (although I think Porsche is being conservative with the times of the Plus battery).

The real difference you will see is above 65 miles per hour. The Performance Battery Plus is just going to continue pulling harder and harder whereas you will begin to see a drop off in the exponential speed in the regular Performance Battery.

A 0.2 difference between 0-99 and a 0.4 difference between 0-124 mph doesn't sound like a lot, but I guarantee if you get behind the wheel of both options back to back you'll notice a pretty significant performance difference in the higher speeds between the two batteries.

Now with all that being said, no you're not going to get the performance of a Turbo just by having the Performance Battery Plus, totally different animal.

Oh that’s great news then. Will save me £350+ in applying the privacy glass option if it’s roughly the same level of darkness?

Tbh I think the small difference is range and speeds at those mph doesn’t warrant that level of price increase. I’ll probably have the same conversation with the dealer when I come to finalise the build and see if he can convince me

Hi Luke,

So I have made a deposit to get in a waiting list about a month ago for a 2021 Taycan Turbo S. But being the noob I am, I just recently found out that I’m not officially on the allocation list because of reasons that I somewhat understand but not fully. So Basically I’m in queue to get an official allocation which they cannot guarantee the date :( .

So my question is, if I’m trying to find the best way to get a guaranteed allocation for 2021 Turbo S, is it better that I call around different dealers until I find an open allocation? Or by leave deposits at a bunch of dealers hoping that one has the lucky winning lottery ticket :) ?

Thanks in advance for your advice

Not sure what the best advice for you is , but calling around wouldn’t hurt. I was in a similar position. I put my deposit down in September 2019 and just got my official allocation in August 2020. Hopefully you don’t have to wait that long. Mine was also a Turbo S. I think they were limiting production of the S in 2020 and focusing on the 4S. My dealer had a lot more of those allocations. The one benefit of the delay is that I will get a MY2021 - the downside is ami just added over $15K in additional options.

Thanks for the quick reply. Wow! I can't even imagine waiting a year just for the allocation alone. I would've gave up in your shoes a long time ago :headbang: . You have great patience!

I've had a similar experience. On Tuesday I went into my local dealership with the interest of test driving the car and learning more about it. By the end of the conversation I asked him 'how soon could I have a 4S delivered' and he said that they 'have sold all their 2020 allocation'. Which I wasn't really surprised about.

However, 5 years prior, my dad had a similar issue when buying his Panamera and our dealer managed to trade a build slot of one of their cars (not necessarily a Panamera) with another branch for a Panamera that my dad wanted. Success! Everyone got what they wanted.

I therefore asked my branch manager whether he could do something similar for me on my 4S and he said that all branches have pretty much sold all their allocations.

So, I returned home a bit bummed out after he told me that I would have to sign a waiver that I am aware I could incur a potential '10% Brexit Import Charge' if I wanted to proceed with a 2021 build as that's when these fees are likely to be introduced.

I ended up using the 'local branch finder' tool on the website and emailed all four of my closest Porsche dealerships with my spec and situation. All replied within 6 hours.

Stockport - Had build slots available for Nov with Dec delivery.
Cheshire - Had build slots for Dec delivery.
Preston - Had no 2020 allocations left.
Wilmslow - Had no 2020 allocations left.

I informed my Bolton branch manager that I would most likely reluctantly have to deal with the Stockport branch to 1) receive an earlier delivery time slot and 2) avoid the possible 10% brexit import charges.

Within an hour, he rang me back and told me that he's agreed a build slot trade with the Stockport branch as they needed a car that the Bolton branch still have allocation for. In return the Bolton branch got the Taycan 4S build slot that I wanted. An hour later I paid the requested £3000 deposit and the allocation was transferred in, my Bolton branch manager inputted my spec and confirmed a Nov build/early Dec delivery time frame!

On Wednesday I'm going for the test drive and I'm sure I'll confirm my spec immediately thereafter.

It's definitely worth reaching out to the branches around you. Some will also compete with incentives, such as free car mats etc.

Luke,
Can you tell me if the brake lights come on when ACC detects a vehicle ahead slowing down and slows the Taycan down? Enjoying the car so far.

Thanks,

Rob
