Hope someone can help with this.

I've moved to the intelligent octopus tarriff so cheap power 2330-0530.
I have a Project EV wallbox that has worked with no issue for plug and charge over the last 3 years.

I have disabled general profile in the car, no timers are active and the EVSE is 'dumb' with no scheduled times etc.

Did the test charge and all fine. Then when i plug in, OI recognises the car and sorts out its charging schedule (which it says can be whenever according to their schedule and they will only charge at the 7.5p rate as it is 'smart' )

However, car only charged by 10% and I couldn't even manually boost charge this morning.

Any thoughts?
Thanks

You haven't mentioned the parameters set in your wallbox which might help diagnose.

Ok but what settings - timing, target charge level etc have you set with Octopus?
Hi W1NGE
For some reason struggling to attach screenshots:
No timers or programmes active within EVSE.
Octopus charging schedule generated several times from 2300-0700 as part of the smart charge.
The charge limit within octopus set at 80% and ready by time as 0800.

The Porsche app showing no timers active or profiles active.
Thanks

I just disable the smart charging and use my EVSE to supply power between 11.30 and 5.30. Works well. Others use the car to control charging. Only a problem if you need >42kWh over night. However having heard of people being sent emails about being removed from the intelligent tariff I plan to use it occasionally. The annoying thing is that it deletes all of your other profiles

Hi
Yes I'd thought about that but the whole point of OI, i thought, was that it might charge the car at anytime that was suitable to the network but only bill you at off-peak rate regardless? Bonus was the off peak rate for the house between 2330-0530

Obviously that is the idea, but I haven’t really found it sufficiently robust. Far more reliable to plug in overnight with your own settings that you know work and use the smart charging occasionally to keep Octopus happy

I have a zappi charger. No timers active. Just set on fast charging.

on the Taycan no timers set.

in octopus app I just set the time and percentage charge. All sweet including 7p charge rate for the time it needs to reach the charge.

I think Zappi is more integrated with OI as it is one of those they supply? Mine is Project EV as it was installed 3.5 yrs ago.

If you have Zappi set to Fast doesn't it start charging a soon as you plug in the car? I have mine set to Eco+, then Octopus confirm a schedule when the car's plugged in and controls Zappi overnight.

I think that's the whole point of how OI is supposed to work. Mine is plugged in, OI app shows a 'charge schedule ' but mine doesn't work to that ?..and again I can't upload a screenshot to show that unfortunately

How does the Zappi know how much charge the car need? Does it somehow communicate with the car?

Yes it does start and it depends how much time octopus calculates to reach the desired charge. So as an example if I am at 10% charge and want 85% by 8am when I plug in at 5pm it may charge from then. The great thing is that they only ask me for 7p/kwh at whatever time it charges the car. Alternatively it may start charging and stop after some minutes and wait until later in the evening or night. It all depends on state of charge when I plug in and what octopus calculates. Brilliant!
