Hi all

My Taycan MY23 didn't have much issues and this week-end it decided to throw the "Electric System error" and won't go in D mode anymore. It will only go to N or P.
My error message is in Yellow. It happened while charging at home (battery at 48% SoC)

I know this forum is filled with the same error with 2 variants red and yellow. (BTW from what I've seen the yellow often gets fixed but just turning off the car for a while, but this is not my case)

From my side, I thought I would escape this as:
- I have a MY23 and I was hoping that Porsche would have figured out a solution by then
- I had the message a couple times (in Yellow as well) when my car was new, and when I shared that with the dealer they applied an update that was supposed to fix and I've never had again. However back then it was "a benign" error since I just had to switch off the car for a few minutes, and it will just go away.

I also noticed that the 12v battery voltage was at 12.9v which is the 1st time I see it at that level. Normally, it is around 13.4 V and goes up to 14.x V when driving. I don't know whether there is a link there

It is just sad, because I love this car but I am starting to loose confidence in it as this could have been a nightmare if it happened during a trip far from home.

The car is going to be towed to Porsche tomorrow. I will share what the issue was in case it helps others.

———————————————

Update
- The 22kw onboard charger was the issue
- My car has been repaired in less than a week.
* they diagnosed the issue in less than 48 hours
* part received 48 hours after
* the repair done in 24 hours
- also during the same week they took the opportunity to do the recall for the brakes (replace the hoses and do the update). They also replaced the heater with a more robust one (also a recall)
- I also asked them to do the 2 years maintenance which costed less than expected because replacing the brake fluid was part of the recall
- on top Porsche Assistance was very efficient and found me a cayenne for the duration of the repair

Overall I am very happy. Repair was quick and in parallel they did a lot of stuff so it wasn’t a waste of time.

I had the exact same problem, also happened while charging at home. In my case it turned out to be the on board charger (OBC) that failed. Quite a common problem unfortunately. I was 1 month without my car, one week to diagnose and three weeks to order the replacement charger and get it installed. I hope you get it fixed faster.

Does DC-charging work when OBC is kaputt?
Well the car doesn’t move so it is hard to verify ? Also everything seems to be getting worse: access confort doesn’t work anymore, 12v seems to continue to discharge etc. Somehow the whole electrical system seems to be frozen

Had a Red one (RCoD). Took 8 months in warranty repair.

Do you have the 22KW onboard charger?

I suspected so. There has been many cases on here of failed 22KW chargers causing this issue. Hopefully a easy fix for you.

Fortunately I don't have this options as I never charge at 22KW. Overnight 11KW and on the road I always use a DC fast charger.

Yes I’ve seen that in this forum. I am also suspecting that as the charging stopped suddenly.

About the 22kwh I do charge at 11kwh at home (buying a 22kwh didn’t make sense to me), and I do use DC fast charging same as you on the highway for very long trips
However the 22kwh was so useful for medium trips of 300 or 350 km as I skip the DC charging and I just park and plug the car in the city when I arrive to destination. A few hours later when I need to do the return trip the car is at 100% SoC and can go home without fast charging on the way home as well.
Result: 700 km done without losing a single minute in a stop to charge.
