Anyone else experience a bit of jerking when taking a deep turn? I notice when I’m making a u turn, the car has a small jerk, can’t tell if it’s the tire slipping or the motor, or something with tire rev match, but I’ve noticed a consistent jerk in the car. It’s difficult to say if that is “expected” or not. Figured I’d ask if anyone else has had something that like that. Thank you in advance.

I am currently in a loan 2023 ST GTS while my car is in for recall work. The car is ridding on 21’s and experiencing quite significant jerking/skidding on sharp turns too. I think the problem is made worse by the cold weather we are experiencing. My 2023 4S on 20’s also skids/jerks but not to the same extent, so tyre size does make quite a difference.
I know it’s related to the Ackermann effect, but it is quite off putting and it’s almost sounds like something has broken.

Mine does this too, I placed this down to the rear wheels steering a little, so they are slightly working against the turn of the car a bit, as they are not steering to the same degree as the front.

Entirely normal and is common on all Porsche vehicles at low speed and is perfectly safe.

Due to wheel camber and more prevalent in cold weather and damp. Low profile tyres also impact.

Known as the Ackerman effect.

it’s a Porsche thing, soon as the weather gets cold, I notice it on my car as well, learned to live with it.

Not just a Porsche thing. True on C6, C7 and C8 Corvettes too. Caused by the Ackerman steering effect that is then compounded by the wider front tires and the colder it is.

Also true on similar wide front tired sports cars in the cold?

It's a bit alarming as it does feel like something is "broken" or "skipping" but it happens to all Porsches when cold as others have stated.

In other Porsche forums we used to tell people to google "Porsche+acorns" this time of year.

Every forum for cars with wide tyres has these posts at this time of year (in cool climates). Ackerman effect. Normal and harmless (albeit a bit embarrassing if you have passengers or bystanders).

I searched this very thing as mine was experiencing it. Good old changeable NE Scotland weather and it was bad last week, and pretty much gone at the beginning of this week. Temperature drops and it's bad today again so clearly temperature related. After reading what causes it, it certainly makes sense, but it crunches pretty badly and it's fairly unsettling. Never experienced that on another car.

I have 21 inch wheels and I was experiencing this a lot during cold whether. Very annoying.
However since I changed the front wheels from Pirelli P Zero to Goodyear Eagle F1 I am not experiencing this anymore. Hard to say whether this is because the tires are new or because the Goodyear are better in cold weather.

Thanks everyone for the responses. There is only 1 thing I am confused by regarding what everyone is saying. Based on Ackerman Principle, if implemented correctly, should FIX the slipping. In other words, the slipping would only happen if you don't really have the differential implemented correctly. It's kind of hard to believe that Porsche wouldn't have done the math right. What am I missing?
