Alright which one of y'all charged here already??

Not surprised by the reported icing. Close to door parking at Costco is at a premium.

They should embarrass the owner by announcing the car color type and plate number over the store intercom

That was me... it operated like a standard EA charger - used the porsche connect app to initiate and pay for the charge.. didn't see a costco discount nor did it ask me for a costco card. The stations also show up in the EA app..

typically no they do not - onsite batteries let the 350 kW DC chargers reach 'peak' performance - once the batteries are depleted the charger's power is reduced to match the what ever the grid can "feed" the chargers - batteries are charged off hours and managed…given that all EV's at the moment have taper curves - none of these chargers are expected to output max power for an entire session…they only have to output max power for the duration of the vehicle's taper curve…batteries fill in the difference between what the local site's feed can manage and the peak demand for what EV is demanding at the moment…
Anyone know what the charge cost is at Costco compared to other EA chargers close by? I hope they aren’t the same 64 cents/kwh in Southern California.

Sounds the same as Walmart & Target. EA extorted pricing only.
Opening tomorrow in Pleasanton CA- 350kw chargers- no idea at this point how good they are , the cost etc... will provide an update when I charge there- unless one of the forum members beats me to it... - update - if you look at the pictures closely it says electrify america on the chargers... don't know if that means its a standard EA station or if you need a Costco card and an EA account to charge there....

I’m waiting for someone to post the cost per kWh for the first COSTCO branded charging stations near COSTCO headquarters in Washington state.
These chargers are able to charge two vehicles at the same time and will only be accessible to COSTCO members which stands to reason they will offer lower charge rates to its members.
Other COSTCO locations simply allowing EA or Tesla to install their chargers on COSTCO properties is a non starter if you don’t have free charging. The equivalent cost at 64 cents per kWh in California & Nevada is over $5 a gallon gas. At that price it is almost cheaper to drive my H2 Hummer a $3.20 to $3.60/gallon.
Once gas comes back down after the instability in the Middle East & Ukraine has settled down and gas prices get back under $3 in California then it will be cheaper to drive my H2. Sad but a big opportunity for COSTCO & Walmart/Sam’s Club to get in the game to offer energy discounts to their members.

Costco Napa also have the EA chargers, but I only saw 2 when I was there a few weeks back, and they're both not online yet. So maybe all new Costcos will come with EA chargers from now on.

Yeah does it appear they are installing only at new Costcos?

Based on the co branding on the units, I think charging discounts are in the works.

Apparently there's a Costco in Ridgefield Washington with 200kw DC units (non-EA)

Looks like these are the new Costco and EA strategy. Walmart has signaled they are moving to their own DCFC units and EA needs a partner. Costco is straight up adding DCFC at all new openings.

Well seems like now all of the Costco stations are excluded from the EA network...

yeah, just got this email. EA's strategy has started to shift given the competition posed by Ionna, MB, WMT, GM/Pilot, and their loss of pricing leverage with their property partners. We speculated this day was going to come and I was hoping we continue to receive the included Porsche Charging Service with EA at these locations

Interestingly, with news like this, Porsche/EA should partner with Costco for a joint or coordinated press release whereby Costco also announces their member pricing. Seems like a missed opportunity at Costco bc the email can be interpreted that "Porsche lost charging at Costco".

Looks like EA now will be a hardware and software partners in return for expansion to Costco locations and allow Costco to compete with Walmart Energy by offering member discounts.

I'm a costco member, so I'm happy to pay for a functional non-congested charger. In California Ionna, BP, and Pilot Flying J has already begun expansion on the next generation chargers which aren't free. I'd rather pay for non-congestion and 200+ speeds than a "free" congested 150kw EA charger. My time is more valuable.

The only thing that makes me
mad about this is the fact I think this means plug and play will not work anymore… Costco’s kwh charge was less than EA and Porsche premium pricing.

The EA charger at Costco in Chino (Socal) just opened up.

10 chargers, mainly unused would which looked very suspicious. Turns out it doesn't accept any pass or free charging programs First Ive seen like this and now makes sense why its empty

Base on EA app, Costco is charging $0.64/kWh at this location, it costs higher than other EA stations in the area.

That’s very interesting. The fact this location won’t accept free charging or passes tells you what the real demand is at EA stations for people who actually pay. EV owners are getting smarter realizing the high prices EA & other operators charge is simply price gouging & ridiculous.

How is the market-clearing price for DCFC either "price gouging" or "ridiculous"?
(Sure that Costco station might be seeing little use now, but once those poorly thought-out EA freebie plans end, I suspect that will change.)
