A well designed app would make this clearer. Or simply tell you ‘your timer conflicts with the profile, do xyz to solve this’. A well designed app wouldn’t have this many people confused and trying to figure it out through trial and error

Thanks. It does seem the recurring timer might be the key thing. I’ll give this a try next time and report back!

At least it's Bring-Your-Own-Cable, so not there when the car is not there, and perhaps you could push the cable under the car when charging.

It's the UK and we are lazy / untidy - the image of streets littered with street lamps and cables is not a good one - pedestrian issues, wheelchair users, blind pedestrians and so on.

I accept something is better than nothing but should the worst happen and someone falls foul of a poorly routed cable (or interfered with by a 3rd party) where does the blame wrest?

I see why it works but you limit yourself cuz now you can't use pre-warming/cooling at home. ??‍

Um no I don't - I just haven't ticked that box (normally) - preheat is part of the config when needed.

Mine is the same. Works every time.

You can have precool/heat for cabin temperature enabled if you want. This is not the same as precool/heating your battery for charging to speed up the charging time

You only see people online who are having problems with the charging.
There are over 100.000 Taycans but there aren't 100.000 people on this forum who are having problems.
In fact, people who are helping you do understand the charging proces, right? ?

It actually works really well. Very little chance of tripping over a wire unless you choose to squeeze between a lamp post and a car rather than walking on the pavement (London lamp posts are generally at the edge of the curb).

+the good thing about chargers on lamp posts is that they have a bright light above them to illuminate your path ?

The speed is plenty to charge overnight and in a city where so many people only have on street parking, there really isn’t another option.

On the liability question - My understanding from working with clients in the insurance industry is that your car insurer is likely liable as the cable is attached to your insured car. In fact, some car insurance companies even include trip cover in their EV policies specifically for on-street charging.

I don't use optimised as technically it is for dual power source - solar and grid - although this may have been refined since original launch

Let's keep it simple - bite size chunks and all that!

P.S. Profiles on their own have never worked on either Taycan since 2020 for me (always overcharge) and periodically I give it another shot. I can't see why but my theory is that something is different on US vehicles. J1.2's may have addressed this by now.

Who is to blame if they trip on the curb, or the uneven sidewalk or walks into the light pole while on their phone (all possible in that picture you showed)? If your cable is like shown in that picture, it's no more dangerous than the other things.

When did we start assuming we have to bubble wrap the world for everyone? Why do we need warning signs that tell you not to drink bleach, or not to throw your hair dryer into the bath tub, or not so spill hot coffee on yourself (because it will scald you)? Perhaps we should let Darwinism do its work. Take all the obvious warnings off products, then hold an election 2 years later?
