Couldn't agree more. Given then the OP is using the phone app, let's go for 2 pictures worth two thousand one hundred words (or 5 pages of posts?). :)

Yep, this doesn’t work. It did before the latest recall software update, but now minimum charge seems to mean literally that - a minimum, not a maximum. It just keeps going to 100% with the settings you show.

see @Dee - a good example of one nobody can agree on on this thread.

Ha ha!

I don't use optimised as technically it is for dual power source - solar and grid - although this may have been refined since original launch

Let's keep it simple - bite size chunks and all that!

P.S. Profiles on their own have never worked on either Taycan since 2020 for me (always overcharge) and periodically I give it another shot. I can't see why but my theory is that something is different on US vehicles. J1.2's may have addressed this by now.
Could it be that profiles don't work for you because you can't use optimized charging?

Not consistently otherwise we wouldn’t be on page 5 of this discussion and the question wouldn’t keep recurring.
We are on page 7 cuz the matter isn't solved yet, not cuz there are 7 pages full of people who have problems.
Actually, it's the other way around: there's only one person who now has 7 pages of solutions. ?
Just kidding mate, you're going to be ok (as well as other people who don't understand the concept of this complicated design either). ?

My understanding is that setting the percentage charge on the profile is the Minimum Charge and not your target. (It is actually called minimum charge and there is a help quote to understand this on the pcm or phone app)

To set your target charging level, you specify this on the Timer.

Who is to blame if they trip on the curb, or the uneven sidewalk or walks into the light pole while on their phone (all possible in that picture you showed)? If your cable is like shown in that picture, it's no more dangerous than the other things.

When did we start assuming we have to bubble wrap the world for everyone? Why do we need warning signs that tell you not to drink bleach, or not to throw your hair dryer into the bath tub, or not so spill hot coffee on yourself (because it will scald you)? Perhaps we should let Darwinism do its work. Take all the obvious warnings off products, then hold an election 2 years later? ;)
I guess you've never worked for Shell then!

The image is (of course) picture perfect and as I'm sure you'll agree all accidents are avoidable.

What you do at home is up to you but in a public place the situation changes. It is illegal to cause an obstruction on roads, pavements and footpaths in UK. It doesn't take much therefore for an inconsiderate person to cause the hazard - hell, we park on footpaths, we block dropped footpath curbs (which are there specifically for wheelchair, mobility scooters etc) and I'm pretty certain someone somewhere will be doing something stupid with an EV charging cable too.

I'm guessing these folk didn't have a choice as they couldn't get near a lamppost as it was being hogged by a neighbour!

Like I said, neat idea and little choice for many but the potential for misuse is there unfortunately.

This is true but you have the option to set the minimum to effectively be your actual 'target' (as long as you remember to disconnect) and charge straight away hoping to stop when complete.

Maybe your Porsche has been starved of energy before, and some AI algorithms is now in survival mode, causing it to "overeat" any chance it gets to suckle on any energy source. ;)

On a more serious note, I came from a decade of Teslas, so this interface was confusing for me. Not until I happen to read the ISO spec did it finally click for me why the interface looks the way it does. I have no explanation why, if you setup only one profile and no timers (as per my picture in above post) it's still not working, The only next step I could suggest is delete ALL profiles and ALL timers, then create a new General Profile, location independent, etc, etc. and see if that takes. Sometimes Porsche software needs things done from scratch. For example, I had a new onboard charger installed recently. This required shutting down the car's HV and 12V batteries. Couple of days after I picket it up from service, I realized that I cannot turn on my high beams, not by pulling or pushing on the stalk, nothing, not even flashing it briefly. What fixed it was turning off automatic high beams in the PCM, then turning them back on - works flawlessly now. Something must have gotten cleared during service, and not set again until I touched those settings.

None of the pictures above look like a Shell (or any other corporate installed) solution. They all look like a jerry-rigged, DYI solutions. Why would those make the lamp post solution a bad one?

The slide below shows DYI EVSE hacks, also dangerous and not a good idea, but doesn't mean a Shell EVSE is bad (assuming you guys have one there, Shell sells one here).

Yep, the London shell ones are like this (see image).

The lamp posts are so close to the curb that it’s highly unlikely anyone would be getting their wheel chair stuck in the wires @W1NGE ?
