Well. Pretty happy this week. I didn’t like that I was seeing 40-50kwh/100mi on my new to me 2021 4S. This being over the past 3 months of ownership.

I learned by watching youtube that the driving history from the prior driver can be reset. Immediately, I’m now seeing 32-33 kWh/100mi driving around town. 80F, 35 mph driving the streets.

ahhh, much happier

I suspect the car’s guess o meter and the kWh/mi is linked to the driving history and habits of the prior car owner. My car came for socal and here I suspect it spent much of its life on freeways in sport mode. I think resetting the car helped.

I am electricity frugal, often driving in range mode around a smaller town. So that is hypothesis one.

My other thought is the temperatures where I live have increased by 20F this month, so the warmer battery may be helping range too.

not sure definitively why, but the car is performing much more efficiently this week as compared to prior months

I am on the same boat; GOM and SoC drop rate appear to be completely off and I guess that could be down to the car "remembering" the previous driver's driving profile. I've had the car for a month and it doesn't appear to have gotten to "learn" my driving style yet.

What's adding to the surprise is that the long-term consuption data (has never been reset since the car was first driven) shows a very low consumption which FOR THE LIFE OF ME I can't get no matter how "range-conscious" I drive.

Therefore the million dollar question- please enlighten us: how did you "reset" the driving history? do you mean that you did a factory reset of everything in the PCM? deleted long-term consumption driving data? or was it something else?

Can't answer your question on resetting the GOM history but ignore the consumption figures reported by the car under "total" especially if it is lifetime for the car. The app shows 27.8 kWh/100 miles for my car. Maybe once going downhill. Lifetime in reality is more like 31 or 32 kWh/100. The car reporting significantly better efficiency than the real world is a known issue.

Your actual usage shouldn’t be influenced by past drive. Only thing that might be influenced is the translation of SoC into remaining miles per drive.

I’d wager that most of the improvement you are seeing are better weather - temperature plays a huge role, especially on shorter drive. If weather improved you might also be getting less wind/ rain which also kills efficiency.

I don’t think the car will remember previous owner after an eventual reset..also considering temperature changes and the limit to 80% that won’t allow us to balance all the cells..
No such 80% limit, at least in the U.S. market.
Just a recommendation for those who don’t enable remote monitoring and who also haven’t had a dealership inspection yet.
